I'm curious, in this new age of cell phone communication, where you turned when you heard the news?

The old horses? ABC, NBC and CBS?
The cable news channels? MSNBC, CNN, Fox News?
The internet?
Just social media? Facebook, Twitter, etc.?
Some where else?

Obviously I aimed this at Americans in the US, but please chime in on your own country's channels.

Hopped onto the PC, saw Twitter exploding, looked at TheAge.com.au and saw the Obama presser start streaming.

I think it was here I first heard about it, and then I turned on BBC. I went to both the TV and Internet for news, but voted internet.

I heard about it from my Mom, who was watching it on television.

I got a text from someone who always sends out chain texts so I was skeptical. Got home and threw on CNN.

Old habits I guess.

Friends and I were actually at Applebee's (restaurant chain in US) and it came up on the news. NBC, I think.

One of my friends at the place was pissed that his ESPN Android app told him about it. He only wanted sports news.

Saw a new post by a friend on Facebook. Thought it was a prankj and just logged in here to double check...

I first saw the thread in N&P here, then decided to turn on the TV and watch CNN to verify.

Saw a flood of Facebook posts and checked N&P to verify.

Saw it here, haven't been on anything else....

Read it on Spiegel.de in the morning.

I was at a bar, writing, when I saw it on the news. I bought the entire bar a round of champagne because of that.

I watched it on channel 9 (Australia) at my mum's house.

The home page on the uni computers is set to ninemsn.com.au.

So I saw it accidentally.

Well, actually.... I found out from your post. Given it's 4:30 am here, I think I'll have to wait for other folks around me to wake up before I start cheering, just out of courtesy.

BBC News is my homepage, so I found out when I started up my browser this morning.

Facebook, then N&P, then a couple of news sites.

Text From A family Member while I was heading home, just turned on the tube to confirm when I got there.

Just got back from work, my dad asks me if I heard "the news". From the way he said it, I figure, well, doesn't sound like it's bad, it's something we should have been expecting, but obviously we aren't rolling in golden hookers from the sky so it's not too awesome. Off-handedly, I sarcastically guessed "They finally got Osama Bin Laden" as it was the most unlikely likely thing I could think of fitting that. He goes "Yes" and I go "Huh."
