Oh, I just noticed that it is now March 15th....

Were not here to Praise Caeser but to bury him.

Today is the aniversary of the world's most famous political assassination. (Great now someone's going to tie this into current events some how)

Ah betrayal. Something I am familiar with.

Or really really fast suicide.

Those bog people must have been suicides too. Must have been hard for them to stab themselves and cut their own throats while being bound and hung.

Aye, beware the Ides of March.

So, Ides means 15 or just middle? I never understood that.

It was a marker in their calendar system - Usually the 15th but sometimes the 13th, depending on the month. The first day of the month was called the Kalends - which was fixed to the new moon on the Republican lunar calendar initially and later just a theoretical date, and you counted forward from that to the Nones, which was fixed to the first quarter and was either the 5th or the 7th, and then to the Ides, either the 13th or the 15th, and which indicated the Full Moon.

There were also festival days, which had special markers, and every ninth day was a market day. They also had committee days where public committees of citizens could vote on political or criminal matters. Those were indicated by a letter C. They had an entire office of government to keep this monstrousity somewhat aligned with the seasons of the year, and it was open to corruption (!). That meant that victorious generals, rich politicians, etc, would actually get new days added to the year in their honour.

Julius Caesar reformed the calendar into a Solar Calendar - The Julian Calendar - but certain indicators were kept such as the Ides.

The more perverse joke I have heard was that it was an attempt to cure his epilepsy through accupuncture.

The same kind of people who fire automatic rifles into themselves, amazingly stopping twice to reload.

Now you can live like an emperor at Burger King!

Now for only £1.99, feast on the most famous product of Caesar's reign; the Caesar Salad. Make sure you don't die without tasting heaven first.

There's OK, then there's BK.

Bah. As far as I'm concerned, going beyond a burger and fries at BK is wasting your money.
