There's 386 Pokémon total in Ru/Sa, however most of those don't seem to be accessable. The data for them is in the cart, however you can't actually catch them in the wild. Of course, the only ones which aren't accessable are those from G/R/B/Y or G/S/C.

For much more detailed info, I'd say your best bet would to actually get on a Pokémon MB of some sort. If you want one with a relativly mature crowd (ie. Primarily 14+, many in University or higher), I'd suggest

On the contrary, when Red and Blue made their debut around '98 I was hooked on them at highschool, the games were actually pretty decent, but then it went into mayhem and simple overdoing it.

I wouldn't feel too bad about my addiction if it were just the games. They're pretty cool just from the game stand point. It's just everything else with the word pokemon on it that makes me wanna puke. Why'd i have to pick pokemon as the first game i got on my first game system ^^;;

Yeah, the games themselves actually aren't that bad, it's just the crass marketing ploys built around them. I've got Yellow, Silver, Gold, Crystal, and both Stadiums (though my friend and I have done a semi-permanent trade of Stadium 1 for Gauntlet Legends). The actual game system is well thought out, and they are fun to play (even if sometimes annoying when the AI seems to be able to predict your moves too well in Stadium).

As far as the crass marketing ploys, this is what we get when the localization process goes out of its way to turn a game/anime designed for the low to middle teens into someone for 5 year olds.

Well, half the new species only come out at night, and a lot of them are only on the other continent. So I guess if the scientists were all afraid of the dark, it wouldn't be too horribly impossible .

That image is so hilarious. And the horror that is the Pokémon franchise is the inevitable result of transforming a game into a manga, and then an anime.
