Since Vympel closed the original thread, what the hell happened to the board earlier?

It happens to me all the time. Sometimes the board just won't come up- buggered if I know. Shouldn't this really be a question for Mike?

It happens. But it seems the entire mine site went down which has never happened before.
I suppose. I figured I'd just ask it here I doubt I'm the only one that wants to know.

The server fucked up for a while. It's been getting more unreliable lately, but I'm not sure whether to move to Lord MJ's server because of performance concerns. Should we just bite the bullet and go for it, figuring it can't be any worse than the current server's been lately?

Yes. This server has been a major pain in the ass. Unless there's something funky from the test I'd move it.

OK, I'm going to go for it. I hope it works out, because if it doesn't, we'll have some more turmoil.

Things have been quite problematic lately; I haven't even been able to log on many times. Perhaps it is time to contemplate how change can be good...

Just back up the board and cross your fingers I guess.

Yep, always remember to perform a back up. We have so many customers who are stupid enough NOT to do that.

Oh, I always do backups.
PS. It's already been moved.

Strange.. must just be the people that actually get on during the day that get the servers all screwy. [shrugs]

See, you aren't what I classify a stupid customer.
Oooh, smooth.

Phew, for a moment there I thought this place was really going down the crapper.
Be thankful you didn't have the servers the original SB.com was on, they truly were the worst ones on the Net as far as I can tell.

What form of backup do you use -- what program?
I say that, because up until now, I've used
Norton Ghost, but since I installed Linux as a third OS, that program doesn't work right anymore (had to re-install Linux twice after ghosting).

I can't connect through the main link. Is anyone else having the same problem, right now?

It's working fine for me right now.

Main link was down for me about 10 minutes ago, but I'm not sure if it's working now.

Ugh, it's slow. Was completely down a little while ago. Traced it to 207.218.245.37 where it crapped out. I would guess that's the server's firewall IP.

Okkkaayyy...I wanted to add soemthing but now it took me 30 seconds after hitting reply to get my window. UGH.
I'm noticing alot of double posts. Seems that when we hit submit it suddenly seizes up and takes forever, so maybe some impateint people hit the back button and submit again causing double posts. At any rate, I had zero complaints about performance at home with my cable modem yeterday but today it has been SLOW and weird.

Some browsers will automatically retry if they don't get a resposne within a timeout period. This behavior will generate multiple posts without the user doing anything wrong.

As with any new server, there's always the possibility that it will actually be slower. My backup plan is always ready
