I'm not an expert on royalists, but I was wondering...

What would happen if somehow the British Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family interbred to produce one child who was heir to both families' thrones? If he became King of Britain and Emperor of Japan at the same time (say there was a plane crash or something), what would happen? Would he be allowed to rule (even symbolically) over both nations? Where would his throne be?

The second part of this is: why don't those royalist dirtbags get cracking to make this crazy scenario a reality? It shouldn't take more than a few intermarriages, and it would be awesome!

Well its quite simple really, and happens all the time within the english speaking commonweath nations. Where the monarch is not, there is a Governor General who does the monarchs job according to the laws and customs of that nation. There you go, question answered.

It's happened before. What do you think Austro-Hungary was created by?

Yes, but I don't think the current British Royals and Japanese Imperials are quite the same as a traditional 19th century monarchy. I doubt either the British or Japanese would acknowledge themselves as being in personal union and create a United Empire of Great Britain, Japan and Northern Ireland.

EDIT: On the other hand, were a Dutch crown prince to marry a Belgian crown princess (or vice versa), I could foresee a Kingdom of the United Netherlands (if any Belgians are here, don't hit me in the face please :D).

A nice idea but i don't see it happening for the fact that the British monarch has been reduced to a figure head and tourist attraction.

The Queen is a little more than that I should think. What you see is her public presence, not what she does.

The British monarchy has been rocked by scandal after scandal. Time to either give it up or Charles should step aside there.

The whole idea of a monarchy is absurd anyway, but i think that if the crazy scenario happened, i reckon that where ther kid grew up he would put a throne, after all he's the king baby.

The American Presidency and congress has been rocked by Scandal after scandal, I think it should be abolished and replaced by a westminster style parlimentry democracy.

Actually he is the Crown Prince when Charlie becomes King. I have no problems with Monarchy in Britain, it seems to be that march a part of society and government that it will never go {the office of Monarch, not the person on the throne, of course}.

Whilst in Britian, I found the trappings of the British monarchy to be rather enjoyable and pleasing to the eye and such.

That said, God forgive King George, convert him, and take him to heaven, as we want no more of him!
