The three ships are two Udaloy ASW destroyers and a supply ship- they are their to 'show the flag' and represent Russian interests.

Many thousand people protest all over the world. Recent protest waves in major cities include over 15.000 people.
Russians gather in front of the American (huh-huh, I don't know how to call it)
Embassy :)

Since you live in Omsk, tell me, do you know anything about the tank factory there?

Yes, exactly. As for the ships - received a video right now, because missed it in the morning. The #1 ORT channel transmits "War in Iraq" all day long, live.

The tank factory? You mean the factory assigned to Sibzavod? Oh,I don't know much of it, except that in Omsk T-90 are built and recently (few years ago) some new tank prototypes were introduced on WTTW.

Yeah, the Black Eagle- actually the Omsk factory (Transmash) builds T-80U tanks, the Nizhniy Tagil factory builds T-90s.

Was trying to find out about what Omsk was doing. Read some news about them doing some upgrade work. Oh well :)

Actually the T-80 are for sale more than for the army.

I know. I was just wondering how much business they were doing- i.e. whether the factory was operating.

The enterprise is called Omsktransmash, correct?

"In April 2002 the Omsk factory "Transmash" received the state order of the Ministry of Defense on modernization of old tanks T-62 and T-72. It was the first state order received by the factory for several years. However, for production of the new machines the government has preferred another tank giant - Uralvagonzavod and its T-90. At least through 2010 there will not be a state order for the tank " Black eagle " developed by "Transmash”. The project of modernization of still qualified, but obsolete tanks T-62 and T-72 should remove the conditions of the difficult situation not only in the Omsk factory, but also in the armored divisions. The alteration of the old machine instead of purchasing the new ones will allow the military authorities to save sufficient money. The modernization of an old tank is 24-25 % of the total cost of a new one. After modernization T-62 or T-72 will be equal to the new machines on majority of the technical and battle characteristics. Though the volume of the order for 2002 is insignificant - some hundred millions rubles, Omsk expects its increase in the following years."

So I figure they must be doing some work.

Might be, although unlikely. Anyway, India or whosoever we sell them to never cares.

They do. It's ocasionally shown on TV. When I visit some people at a local... hmm... depot, they also say new tanks, incl. new amphibious research, are being tested extensively. When I was at the preliminary military training, we were about to visit the factory itself, although we never did.

Well, I can't watch war movies because, even though I know the people are just actors, etc., I know that at some point in time that shit actually happened. Same kind of deal here. If someone can think it up for a picture, don't you think someone can think it up to actually do it?

I know I'm more sensitive than most, but Jeeeeeez..... :|

Zaia! Crown! That's an example of the Great Leader's public relations photos from the Ministry of Truth! Every schoolchild in the Great Leader's dominions sings the "Strength through Joy and Love of The State Happy Joy" song with tears in their little eyes while gazing on such inspiring images. I doubt either of you are made of the stuff HAB requires!
