Bastardisation of the English Language

Now, as we all know, the English language exists for the sole purpose of absorbing every little cool sound that comes it's way. To continue this proud tradition, I propose that we actively attempt to bring new words or grammar structures into English.

My favourites at the moment are the interrogative and emphatic coughs used by the race in Harry Turtledove's World War and Colonisation Series.

What do you think, and do you have any other suggestions.

well, staying online a lot makes me say lol and some other abbreviations offline. I occasionally use the battletech quaiff and quineg in conversation with another fan, I quote huttese when it seems appropriate, stuff like that.

But we must expose the general population to these new words and phrases! Else complete bastardisation of the English language will not be achieved!

right. mandatory viewings of sw ^^

That could work, but it'd be hard - non-SW people could view it as an attempt to convert them to an evil cult.

Bastardisation of the "bastardisation of the English language" thread. I quite like the irony, or whatever word I should use there.

I'll use irony. Even if it's the wrong word, it doesn't matter! after all, our ultimate aim IS the bastardisation of the English language!

yes indeed.

going off topic of our offtopic. . .

what cult shall we introduce them to?

I think we should just get people to use interrogative and emphatic coughs.

Oh and we could introduce a few insults:

"Bantha poodoo"

"I hate you and hope you get cancer."

Interrogative should be high and rising, Empathic should be low and falling. What do you think?

my favorites are drek i.e. "What is this drek im eating?" and shazbot i.e. "Oh shazbo!."That one is courtisy of Kang and Kodos. Anything that closly resemble something Jabba would say also works. Try these freandly phrases at your local 24 hour superstar at around 2am. Gets um every time.

Acutal Shazbot goes back even further to a game called Tribes the thing was whenever somone typed a curse word it would auto-replace it with Shazbot! which no one knows where it came from(Game was two years before K&K) but everyone agreed it sounded funny as hell
Till envulatly for Tribes 2 it was a pre-cording taunt :D

(The back story said in the future all negative words where replace with Shazbot! whatever the hell that means)
Leaving us with a fun word
