My comp became unstable enough that I was forced to reduce CPU speed by at least 3/4 through BIOS settings and use windows 98 (anything else either refused to install or froze midway with some weird pointer address error).
Hence, I've been through hell and back, trying to get various Windows incarnations to work and fiddling around with the BIOS settings. Even Linux won't install.
Sad. I'm beginning to think that it really is a hardware problem (most likely with the CPU itself, from what the various BIOS changes did), which really really sucks.
The only good thing that could come out of this would be that I might have to get that super-good comp that I was supposed to get in May earlier. And even that has its disadvantage in that comp speed and ram speed may have gone way up by may.
So anyway, for any of you who have had to deal with bios and hardware problems plaguing your comp, I feel for thee. Now I have to go back to lamenting the loss of 3/4+ of my cpu speed.
