Hope this is the right forum. As a great fan of Calvin and Hobbes, I just loved these. I feel all soft and comfy inside.

At least they don't make me want to tear my heart out like all the ADHD and Calvin forgets about Hobbes versions.

Most Calvin and Hobbes "What Ifs" were depressing. Either Calvin out grew Hobbes, which is sad in its own right, or Calvin didn't outgrow Hobbes and is spending time in a mental institution.

The idea that Calvin and Susie marry and have a daughter who is just as creative and playful as Calvin is very touching. Calvin doesn't forget Hobbes. He saved Hobbes and gives his most cherished treasure from his childhood to his most cherished thing in the world. And we still see the creative spark in Calvin since he is an artist. The little touches. Starting with Calvins last panel. Showing Calvin and Susie at school. Seeing Spaceman Spiff. And then a hint of Calvin Ball.

Those 4 panels did more to complete Calvin and Hobbes than anything I've seen. The series suddenly has a sense of closure, but with a new future that we can imagine in a positive way.

I ran across these back in January and they struck me as very well done. I enjoyed reading Calvin and Hobbes when I was a kid and I can appreciate what these comics do for an old fan. There is another fun image that gives the same idea as those four comics, but condensed into a single "Motivational Poster" style format.

Oh dear Lord, all the memories... I don't know why but the picture Alyeska posted always gives me a pause, then I smile and feel a little misty-eyed. Maybe because I found Calvin and Hobbes when I was just a couple of years older than he was in the comics (my first comic books were Asterix, Tintin, Lucky Luke and Donald Duck years earlier) and now when I'm older that picture just hits me in a way I can't describe well. The motivational and the comics with Calvin's daughter feel so right.

Yeah, they nailed it pretty well. It's not something that needs to continue as it is just C&H again, but man, it hit the spot to make me feel happy about it ending.

Yeah the picture Alyeska posted has been around the internet for a while, and it, more then anything else captures and completes all of C&H in one simple elegant picture.

The comics posted at the start are wonderful, and I can see that (IF) the comic ever continued it would be something very similar to that I feel. C&H More then anything else wasn't just about a childs endless imagination, it was also about his indomitable spirit, and deep down, we all knew he was going to be one hell of an awesome 'grown-up'

I didn't see those second two comics, but I am thankful they were made. Brings back a lot of feels.

Would you feel slightly less old if you read the first strip?

Reminds me of the time when I wrote to Bill Watterson. I remember receiving a response that said he disliked form letters and believing it meant he hated my letter.

Knowing nothing else about the letter, I get the impression that he probably meant he'd hate sending a form letter in response.

Well yeah, that's what it meant. He never read it. Universal Press Syndicate sent me a form letter reply with a poster-sized comic.
