Will this comp run CnC: Generals?

2.8GHz or 3.06GHz Pentium 4
512 megs RAM
ATI Radeon 9000 128MB

That the comp I'm likely to get in two weeks (probably the 3.06 GHz one). Will a setup like that be able to run Command and Conquer: Generals? And at what detail level and speed?

*Looks at current comp*
P3-500, 128 MB Ram, Voodoo 3000 16Mb.

Sigh...

Have a very nice day.

I'd imagine that that setup should be able to run CNCG just fine. I do fine at maximum detail level on a 2.4GHz Pentium4, with the same amount of RAM and a GeForce4 Ti4200.

It looks good to me, however, I would stongly suggest you to switch over to AoM.

My friend, your system will run ANYTHING out there at FULL tilt.

[Blatant Jab]I don't know, I've heard some people say that AoM is significantly overrated...[/jab]

But seriously, AoM does kick ass.

I'm only using Generals as a benchmark here, since it's said to be one hell of a resource-intensive game.

Actually, now it's 1 GIG RAM.

Why do you have a top of the line system with a radeon 9000? That's like buying a top of the line car with square wheels!

I managed to get it running on a 700 AMD Duron. It may be runnng slower than a knee capped drug dealer, but it's running ...

Ouch, you're using Intel's basterdized way of accessing more than 2GB of RAM?

I have a 1.53GHz Athlon XP [Palamino] with 512MB PC2100 RAM and an ATI Radeon 8500LE 128MB and it runs fine. You should be able to crank up the antialiasing levels compared to my machine, but you can turn on all the in-game eye-candy.

I dunno but 4 Gigs.

Still true...you can never have enough, if for nothing else it looks damn impressive(course if your OS doesn't use it...then yes it's a colassal waste)

For those doing video editing, you can easily work with gigabytes of data at a time. If you're doing modeling, that can suck up huge amounts of RAM as well (especially in CAD/CAM).

For the average user, 4GB is a stupidly large amount of RAM. For a lot of other fields, it's a serious issue (doubly so on x86 because of the way it handles the 2-4GB area).

Don't forget that the 512 megs RAM figure is now 1 GIG RAM. :D

And THIS, is what it will look like:

Bleh. It'll run it just fine. Certainly beats the hell out of my most current system:

Athlon XP 2200+ (Slightly overclocked to 1.87 - 1.9 GHz)
512 MB RAM
Rather primordial nVidia GeForce2 64 MB.

What some people online like to do for fun is a Comp Stomp, where all the players ally against the computer and proceed to crush it.
