oi

It amazes me that people expect retailers to take responsiblity for their kids...on violent games.

I mean do we really have some hard on to prevent this because gosh darnit little jimmy may go nuts(because those Columbine kids played Doom  ) and kill people...disregarding that good parenting is what's need.

Most parents need a swift kick in the ass. Oi vey. I can't believe they are going to pass that. Not like half their friends don't already OWN the games.

Apparently...yes. :|

I see. 21 to drink, 18 to buy porn, cigarettes and now apparently violent video games...and 18 for the government to send you to some godforsaken hellhole to kill brown people.

I say the Bible should be illegal for minors too. Contains just as much, if not more, violence than any video game on the market.

As a sixteen year-old I feel I should be more upset, but I've never really cared for violent games in the first place.

I don't understand it. D&D is the "ultimate evil" yet it's never been relegated like that.

I say it because now whiny Soccer Moms realize they can actually have laws passed and people sued.

I mean while D&D is the Ultimate Evil(I loved the stares I got for saying I played it), it happened during a time the general public didn't believe they had as much a say.

You have a point. However, RPG video games have become an ultimate evil. I have known quite a few people addicted to Ever(crack). In fact, it broke up a family. :( I refuse to touch that game, even on PS2.

Why exactly has Everquest gotten such a bad rep? What makes it so addicting compared to others? I always hear negative comments about it, so I'm curious...

Ah, so the soccer moms strike again...

Perhaps tehy should divert their attention away from the few people who couldn't distingush fantasy from reality (And I'm sure their parents were the ones who didn't teach them that), and the many others that play such violent games and have few problems.

I want to see the grand-parental-equivalents to "Soccer Mums", who come up and bitch about how life was so hard in their day, they didn't have these regulations and how they turned out ok.

my only real problem with it is it's pay-to-play.

I just found it boring...I mean it really didn't escape reality for me...except now I can use magic(still have to earn money through jobs and such not)

My friend is completley addicted to that game. He plays that through his entire weekend, nonstop. His parents got adivorcebecause of that game. Not anything that happened in-game, you understand, but because they loved thegamemore than they locedeach other.

I similarly refuse to come within ten feet of that game, knowing what problems it can cause.

I tried playing EQ before, deleted it after several minutes.
Then again UO sucked for me too.

True. I could buy Second Edition stuff when I was 13, no questions asked. 'Course, it's rather funny now, being a pre-ministerial candidate who plays D&D, the Star Wars RPG (actually, converting it to another system), and Heavy Gear.

It wouldn't suprise me if they went after places like this.

Isn't that why we keep the right-wing gun nuts around though? Just in case that were to happen?

Well, we're not as big as violent video games, so I'm guessing they'll go after other violent stuff, until they get down to attacking stuf like toy guns.

They started the toy gun thing in Australia a while ago, it's gone nowhere. Look at what's discussed here, Atheism, Anti-Goverment things, sex in all it's forms, if we all got together in a house rather than the internet to discuss this we would have been lynched a long time ago.

Can you imagine the sheer amount of anarchy that would produce? Besides, no lynch mob would stand a chance against all our whackos, perverts, and other wierdos. :D
