If you had an admin forum, the following would rightly belong there. But you don't. So here goes:
General Note to Fellow Members: Since the software update back in February, this site has been partially filtered for security reasons on the computer which I normally use at work. Basically, it's become read-only, no posting possible. Just wanted to let you know so you don't think I've been ignoring you or anything, it's just that--like it or not--I'm pretty much reduced to lurking aside from the odd library trip. So, sorry I haven't been able to contribute more. It's a tad frustrating. Other folks you might not have heard from in some time, those who also normally use government/DND computers, might be in the same boat too...
(Oddly enough, two other Star Wars board sites I'm a member of, aren't filtered at all, and neither is the ant forum I post to. Go figure.)

i've been banned from the school internet for going on guess what? THIS site. Not for the swearing or occasional images of of death or porn or whatever...but for the ICQ logo! i'm not overly sure where it is, but apparently, i've repeatedly been accessing this one gif. How ace is my school.

Once again we reach one of my major gripes.
Not you, BB, at work you (I assume) have your own workstation to do what the hell you like with it, but Rye and others, PLEASE USE SOME RESPECT ON COLLEGE COMPUTERS!!!
Having stood for 20 minutes waiting to access the electronic journals while someone did their shopping on Ebay, I can appreciate how annoying it would be for someone to wat to use the computer while I'm posting here.
College computers are there for educational purposes. If you're not going to use them for that, at least let someone else... especially as coursework deadlines loom.
Thank you.

Bah, the computers in my high school, don't even let me see the forums. Too much objectionable words, you see.
Have a very nice day.

When I tried the internet for the first time in 1996 sites like this were fully accessable from the labs at school. I wonder if they do filtering now. Even then there were labs for coursework only and a seperate lab, just for browsing. You could browse in the labs for work if they were not busy.

Why would that be? The software hasn't changed that much; it checks for a persistent IP, that's all.

Anyone should be able to post in the testing forum even without a sign-up. If others are having the same problem, perhaps they could post there.
