I got that exploration itch again!
I've not been to Cardiff in absolutely bloody ages, and not at all since I became a not-so-lean and mean adult. So in my desire to visit all of the 4 National Capitals again, I'm offski in a few weeks time....
Usual requests then:
Historical
Interesting
Pubs
Sights
Restaurants
Off-the-beaten track
Transport
Thoughts? Suggestions other than 'run away'?

The Castle is pretty cool, and the National Museum of Wales is impressive. There is the Bay, which has shitloads of shops, restaurants etc. I can also recommend TechniQuest for the scientifically-minded.

I live in Cardiff, it's blooming lovely.
Historical - the Castle is good, time it right you can see a joust or some other event. The Museum is excellent, you could loose two days in there alone.
Interesting - Dr Who experience?, the bay itself is quite a nice bit of engineering porn. St Fagan's is an outdoor museum of historical buildings from all over wales, the Stadium does tours, there's always stuff on at the two stadiums, a hungover trip on the speed boat on the bay is fun,
Sights - a walk up through Bute park is nice in the sun. St Fagan's again. The indoor Market if you like victorian building, further out there's the welsh botanic gardens, but I've not been so can't comment.
Pubs. - I quite like the Rummer tavern. Urban Taphouse is pretentious and expensive but has a good range. Queen's Vaults is nice too.
Food - Truffles and Cafe Minuet in the city center, Tea Pot on cryws road, there's a metric fuckton of good indian, lebanese, kurdish, japanese, on city road, also Milgi (hippy vegetarian place that makes great cocktails)
Off the beaten track - penarth, barry island, edit, ooh Techniquest, yup that's awesome.
Transport.
