Anyone up for a C&C:G game later?

Well, I've been playing C&C:G for awhile (but still very much a n0ob), and I'm wondering if anyone's up for a game? Maybe a Comp Stomp?

Well i would, if only:

A) I had a connection better than 28.8k

B) I had a comp that could run the game faster than half real time. ( no shit there, every second in game time takes at least two in real life. It's sodding annoying.)

Could you wait a couple of weeks?

Phong Nguyen. I'm still not very good at it, but it is fun.

I'm not anywhere near great at it either. I've gotten to Major by sheer luck...

I'm JediNeophyte there too, I am sort of n00bish still but I've got a few m4d USA and GLA skillz.

sounds great!

Two problems. No comp, and no copy of C&C:G

I haven't tried playing Generals on 56k; is it any good?

Is the game really one-sided as they say it is? (US being too strong)

Well, all the sides have their advantages. If you're the GLA and you can get your SCUD Storm up (which charges quickly), you should be able to blast their airfields into oblivion (plus they leave behind anthrax). USA without airpower is not in good shape. Failing that, you can just send hordes of Bomb Trucks at them

Actually, I once stopped a SCUD Storm - remember, they're just normal missiles with an extra-large payload. Soo, some fool tried shooting them against a Paladin Tank assault - the lasers went active and shot them down :D

For angry mobs, I usually have pathfinders or flashbanged-rangers to deal with them. Said pathfinders are also used to clear paths for airstrikes, including the FAE kind. 8)

I've heard people complaining about China being too strong, but I think the game is overall pretty well balanced.

China should be the strongest, they are the evil commies! The evil commies always have the strongest units, ie-Mammoth/Apocalypse/Overlord tanks, and other stuff like that.

But I assume the others have their own advantages. I haven't played the game yet, heard it was good but:

ROCK ON, YURI'S REVENGE!

I actually think Generals is better than RA2, and I think highly of RA2. For one thing, Generals does away with the Construction Yard tradition, so now you can build multiple things at once. The superweapons and 5-star general abilities are also much, much better than the nuke or weather machine. The mushroom cloud in this game is awesome, and the ion cannon is movable, a la magnifying glass + ants.

I've noticed in most of the Comp Stomps on Generals Online, the host tends to set the AI enemies as GLA. Is this an effect of the War?

Also, the 1.4 patch seems to have transformed at least half of the players into huge, gaping assholes (Typical room names: NO AMERICA H8RS, NO JEWS, I H8 Arabs etc).

In the endgame China is unbalanced, because an Overlord Assault is virtually unstoppable. I suppose you could attempt to ram them with demo trucks up the wazoo or hit them with particle beams, but they suck to defend against.

Though once when someone had a thick cluster of them on the advance I managed to time an FAE strike just right

If USA gets multiple Particle Beams up, they can swiftly shut down their opponent. The Beam is the fastest-recharging superweapon in game, and one strike can destroy an Airfield easy. Coupled with the near-omniscience the USA can achieve with it's Detention Centers, and the guaranteed-hit Aurora bombers, USA can really fuck an opponent up starting from the base down.

Granted, that's if you let them tech that high to begin with, but then an Overlord assault is rather expensive as well given the $2000 cost per tank and the $7500 needed to get the Nuclear Tanks upgrade.

Nick: Spyderizer.

Have yet to play online though.

Personally, I think C&C Generals could use a "no superweapons" toggle in multiplayer games (Red Alert 2 had it). I imagine there are probably a lot of players who build heavy chokepoint defenses and then turtle into their bases so they can build hordes of superweapons.

PS. I do really enjoy the GLA workman comments, though:

"Can I have some shoes?"

"I'm hungry!"

"This hammer is heavy!"

"Are there not better tools?"

"Ow! OK, I will work!"

I hate people who take advantage of game mechanics.

Same thing if playing against a comp and you take advantage of some AI flaw. I never do that. Granted, real war is not about playing fair (and you better believe I'll get every advantage I can in RL), but in a game, I'd at least fight realistic instead of, in essence, cheating my ass off.

Lol. *Vympel points at his superweapon whore brother*

I believe the term is called being 'gamey'. I'm guilty of it sometimes. Like when I use the GLA ambush in the middle of the enemy base, steal their construction yard, and the dumbass AI doesn't even attack me.
