But that's what happened at the summit of Mauna Kea on Hawaii's Big Island on Friday morning.
The combination of passing thunderstorms and near-freezing temperatures led to 1.5 inches of snow and icy conditions, according to a ranger's report.

Its a nearly 14,000 foot high mountain and the average temperature is 30 F. Fun but not so surprising at that point.

In other news, we're having one of the coldest summers in the past 60 years and Sweden and Norway are even worse off. Where's my global warming, dammit? Oh, wait, it seems like it's decided to set up shop in Siberia, just east of here...

It also seems to have set up shop in the Western US, something the media seems to have mostly forgotten last winter in their freezing temperatures disprove global warming nonsense. California is going through historic droughts, something rice farmers seem to be ignoring in the area where my parents live. I recently was driving around out there and passed over a dozen flooded rice fields.
