Mine was cruddy only from the looks standpoint... Now my server is located in the trashed out box the old LAN machine was in.

Current LAN machine:
OS: Windows 2000 Pro (SP2) and DirectX 9.0
Proc: XP 2700+ running at 1666mhz (board capout)
Mobo: ASUS A7V133 (is not designed for the XP series chips and has no multipliers over 12.5x)
Ram: 640mb PC133 SDRAM
Vid: Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb/AGP 8x (ASUS V9280S-TVD)
HDDs: (IDE) 1 Fujitsu 20.4gb, 1 Maxtor 20.4gb. (SCSI) 1 IBM DDYS-18350N 10krpm 4mb cache LVD-160
CD-rom: Sony 12x8x32x burner
Sound: SB 128 PCI (will be upgraded to the Yamaha X-Wave with surround sound here shortly when I quit being lazy)
All of that is in a nice black mid-tower case with see thru windows on the top and side, tricolor fans in the top and side window, a color changing LED in the front panel, and 2 lighted bubble-plastic bars in the front with blue LEDs. Looks really cool.

Damn! I've got close to that much in MP3s! (err, all of which are strictly legal, I'm sure)
Anyway, my machine is going to be upgraded soon, currently it's running at 450 Mhz with 128 megs memory, 40 gig hard drive and a voodoo3 3000 graphics card. Alberto was quite the shizz when he was new...

I'm sure my computer doesn't have as bad characteristics, but there's only one phone line in my house, as well as a slow connection, making it seem slower than it really is. Also, sometimes when I'm online for a while, and open new windows, things start getting messed up (The menu bars get all glitchy, things won't load, shit like that).

800 Duron with 256 RAM.

My fastest machine is 1.7GHz, and I gave that to my son. My own machine chugs along at 1.4GHz. I've thought about upgrading, but there's always something else I need to spend money on first.

800 mHz Celeron with 256 MB of RAM, running XP. It gets the job done.

Right now I am running on a 1.7ghz Pentium 4, 30gig HD, 256 RAM, laptop. Need more RAM, bad, and I wish I could upgrade my vid card.
I still have an 8 yr old Compaq 9548 Pentium 100, 1.5 gig HD, 16mb RAM, that is used as an office comp back home.

Umm... he asked for people with the Rinky-Dink Ratboats, not someone with an Uber-Tech Capital Dreadnaught Fleet! LOL

So I DO have the slowest computer in here. I'm getting a PII 450 in May, but it still will be the slowest.

1GHz AMD, 384 RAM, 16 meg graphics card and a 20 gig hard drive. Not very good by current standards, but it works great for the games I like to play. Course, I have the orginal Harpoon installed...

Nope, you'll have me beat then as I'm running a PII-400. Of course it overclocks nicely all the way to 500 but I don't feel like shortening its lifespan by doing that. I've been thinking about a new computer for the last couple years but I can't justify it. Spending $2000 just so I can play the latest games is not a worthwhile thing to do with my cash. I'll upgrade when my job requires a faster computer.

Pretty respectable. GFX card and HDD storage could easily use a boost, tho.

800 mhz 1st generation athlon
256 meg pc133 RAM
GeForce 2 32 meg
30 / 80 gig HDs
Linux/XP dual boot
CDRW and a DVD drive
Integrated SB sound card
It chugs a bit more than you'd expect, despite it being virus-free..

Hey, it started out as the worst running hunk of junk on the boards...
Original specs as of 1/10/03:
OS: Windows 2000 Pro (SP2) and DirectX 8.1b
Proc: AMD Athlon slot-A 500mhz
Mobo: ASUS K7V (blown I/O controller, shaky keyboard and USB (the PS2 mouse had already gone tits up on the board), IDE working about 10% of the time on a good day)
Ram: 384mb PC133 SDRAM
HDDs: (SCSI) 1 IBM DDYS-T18350N (same as in current config), 1 IBM DCHS-04W class 4.7gb SCSI-2 *prototype*, 1 IBM DCHS-09W class 9.1gb SCSI-2 *prototype*, 1 IBM DMVS18V class 18.2gb LVD-80 10krpm 4mb cache *prototype*.
CD-rom: 1 God-only-knows-who-made-it 8x4x32x burner with no faceplate
Case: trashed and thrashed Inwin mid tower which my server is now housed in, it still has no covers on it.

At the moment, I have posted this with
500MHz AMD K6-2
128megs RAM
30gig HDD
Voodoo3 2000 PCI
Fairly slow, I'd say. Though when I get my new machine in less than 4 days:
3.06GHz Pentium 4
1024megs DDR333 RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
120 gigs HDD
I certainly won't be slow.

1 gig of RAM!!!
Well that could be interesting- make the computer copy all essential software to ramdisk and run it from there...

For me more like every 3 months- Windows rot hits slow computers hard- not enough space to dual boot, so I installed linux on my other computer, DSIII downstairs (If spanky can name computers so can I). Still not fully armed and operational though, since I'm trying to get everything to work perfectly, and in the process wreck the LFS installation every few days, requiring a recompile, which takes 2 days of continuous operation.
