I click an alternate link to some forums I go to, and what does it do? Brings up a full-screen pop-up, in which the
x and manually closing it do not work!
Ctrl+alt+del is unresponsive and then just crashes all the browser windows.
*Gets Volcano cannon from SD.net vs SD.net thread and hunts down those responsible for spam.*

Just wondering: what are your cookies and other privacy settings put on? Those may have an effect.

Try a different browers. Opera for example has an
option that allows your to prevent the opening of
popup windows.
