How many times has this happened to you?

Ok, so there's this cute girl in my Aikido class, and she looks to be about my age. Long blonde hair, nice smile, the works. I chatted with her a little bit on Tuesday, and then today went up to her after class and asked her if she'd like to see a movie on saturday.. She say that she can't, and I ask if there would be a better time. It turns out that she's a grad student and married.

*sigh*

To me...once or twice.

My friend Dave...he keeps little marks in a book, I believe he's reached around 40+(in the past 5 years he's been trying to seriously date)

So it's not unusual

I usually find out before I ask, but...twice in my Aikido class last semester, three times (so far) in Tae Kwon Do, once in Prophetic Thought, once in Fundamental Questions in Theology and Philosophy (though there's another cutie I know isn't taken)...that's 7 in the last 6 months  .

Man, I didn't realize I'd been shot down that many times so recently.

There's this chick who's a regular customer at the bike shop I work at. I'd talked to her a lot and asked her if she wanted to come riding with us. She said yes and brought some guy along with her, who turns out to be her husband, and then I find out that she's almost 15 years older than me.

Well, all the girls I've been interested in could be broken down into two catagories:

A) Girls my age who were either dating someone / lesbians / or good friends who were unavailable for other reasons.

or

B) Girls who would be available if they weren't 6-12 years older than me! :x

Once. She turned out to be 10 years older than me. Of course, from my recollection, that still didn't stop me.

Does she not wear her wedding ring? The jewellery check is one of the first things you have to do. Rebecca was once out at the local student bar in Waterloo with her friends while I was on work term and a guy followed her around and eventually asked her out. She gave him a few excuses before finally resorting to the expedient of flashing her engagement ring to make the situation clear; don't people check these things?

Jewlery isn't allowed to be worn during class. Usually the first thing I do is look for a ring nowadays.

Sometimes...but I've seen quite a few these days that don't wear it at all, so then it's a judgement call.

Does she like you or is even remotely interested or is telling you nicely to buzz off?

I've had similar sort of things happen.....

There was the time I got handcuffed to two rather nice blondes......regretably both were engaged......it was a fun evening all the same.... :D

Hmmm, that's never happened to me before. I always check for a ring first.

Okay, I'm sure I should have known this already, but on which finger and hand does the wedding ring and engagement ring go?

The ring finger.

Left hand, ring finger. In the U.S., anyway, it's the left.

In Europe (correct me if I'm wrong) the ring finger is often the right. Maybe not in Britain, though. I don't really know.

No Crayz, it's the left here as well. I've understood that to be rather universal.

It's not like the steering whell, y'know Crazy.

And the ring check wouldn't work for you over here either, Zaia, cause Real Men don't wear rings.

Luckily that hasn't happened to me (yet).

Good question!

I think it's so simple that most of us don't even think about it to check...
