The Navy's new DD(X) destroyer class is back on track, and it looks like some fucked up beast.

I miss the battleships. Especially the Iowas, now those were good looking ships.

Whatever happened to the form of ship building...
Ships used to be the epiphany of power and had a unique beauty about them, but now we have this computer designed box on water. Whatever happened to the actual human design...

That ship is shaped that way because it is designed to be stealthy to radar.

Considering what the ship is FOR, I suppose that some concessions to practicallity should be made so that, you know, we don't lose an ungodly-expensive warship and a bunch of sailors.
That said, yes. That thing is ugly like poop is ugly.

You're not that alone. I like its sinister appearance. In fact, it vaguely reminds me of Emperor Palpatine's
Eclipse.

Personally I don''t care much about how it looks if it works well. That said, it doesn't look that bad, despite being a little boxy...

Unfortunately, it bears a close resemblence to French pre-dreadnought battleships in design. The ones famous for rolling over and sinking after suffering from only a small amount of damage - due to their hull form. Wundar ship here is probably going to have the same problem, especially with that huge superstructure. *shudders* Welcome to the era of the colonial patrol boat with no actual naval combat survivability, USN!
For comparison,
Bouvet
