Funny, whenever I played NHL Breakaway '98, I used the Ducks as the team for my custom players, and they always kicked ass.

That's my only tidbit of hockey knowledge, I'm afraid...

Just got back FROM THE GAME myself.

Saw 2 red wings fans ejected to the pleasure of a cheering Ducks section, multiple chants of sweep sweep, and I personally started 3 different Go Home Red Wings chants.

It was beautiful.

One statistic I find fascinating about the series is that the Ducks didn't score on a powerplay even once, the whole time. Has anyone ever swept a best-of-seven series without scoring on the powerplay?

Sure, it wasn't a criticism, just an interested comment. They did a pretty good job on defense, but Detroit did get an average of something like 37 shots per game; they wouldn't have it if Whazzizname the Wundergoalie hadn't been in the net.

OTOH, I only watched game four, so I'm no expert. Maybe all of Detroit's shots really sucked? Meh, I'm going to sleep.

Goddamit! He sucks. I was reluctant at first but his perfromance is just agonizing (although, frankly I only watched game 1 and 3). We need to get Giguere, he kicks ass! Or better yet, where the fuck is Hasek? HASEK OWNZ! If we had Hasek I can assure you we'd be leaving the Ducks in the dust with 4 shutouts in a row. You remember Hasek right? That guy would come 20ft out of goal to knock a puck around. They wanted to give him a Delay of Game penalty for it once! But you can't fuck with Hasek. Sure, he showed up, kicked ass, took a Cup, and went home to Czechloslavakia (sp?) to live out the rest of his days, but given a year, I'd bet he would be no worse for wear.

Nonetheless, even in defeat there is hope for next year. The quest of for the Cup (and a new goalie...) is never over.

Easy to place game in your goalie and not in your veteran goal Scorers. You Red WIngs fans have placed so much of the Burden on Cujo and you completely ignore that fact that Giguerre rotuinely stymied your boys Hull, Yzerman, and Robitaille. I mention those three specifically because those three guys have over 600 career goals (Hull having over 700) and they only account for 1 the entire series (*according to ESPN.COM)

Your other esteemed veterans didn't come through either, I guess you need to let go of the guys who were supposed to be scoring. Gotta blame somebody though right? Or you could just admit the fact that you were playing a better team, do what you will until October when the preseason starts, and cheer fer yer team again.
