Well, the other day, James Cameron mentioned in an interview that he is currently working on the script for the next installment of the Aliens series(he wrote my favorite one, just ahead of 1, Aliens). So we may have some Marine blasting Giger's space life creation fun again that may make up for 3.

I thought this franchise died with the disaster that was Alien:resurrection. For God's sake mr. Cameron, STOP THE INSANITY!!!!

Resurection wasn't bad for a 4th installment, and was hella better than 3, I think it's good that Cameron is taking the series back, and that the fact that he choose Alien over Terminator series shows that he isn't an idiot. Terminator is pretty much finished, while Aliens could have the potential for good movies, especially Alien vs Predator.

Cameron never did 3 or 4. So don't blame him. He is trying to revive the series.

I'm not blaming Cameron for the disasters that were Aliens 3 and 4. I'm blaming him for trying to resurrect a dead franchise that should never have been led astray in the first place. The only purpose Cameron could have in this endeavor would be to make more money. To make a quality film, he would have to undo the damage of the past, AND try and come up with a relatively new take on the series. That is a task that is incredibly difficult, if not impossible. I think that a director as talented as Mr. Cameron is better left exploring new projects.

Bah, its going to suck. All sci-fi movies with too many sequels suck. Star Trek sucks, Jurassic Park sucks, Star Wars does NOT suck goddamnit!

Aliens is doomed to suck.

If he goes back and makes a sequel with Hicks and Newt surviving, ignoring the last two Alien movies, I would be so happy. Then the movie wouldn't have to be about Ripley.

That would be the best thing they could do, in the comics Newt grew-up so i think the comic invalidate 3 and 4.

The old black-and-white comic series from Dark Horse took place about 10-15 years after 'Aliens'. Ripley is nowhere to be seen, and the story focuses entirely around Hicks and Newt. Although I've never seen the comics myself, I have read synopses, and I can say that if they used the comics' plot, the movie would kick ass.

Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 were all good in their own way. But Alien Resurrection was fucking godawful.

Oh Jesus non-fucking-existent Christ, that's just one franchise they should just let die already.
