Is there something wrong with my forum?

Is there something wrong with my forum? Maybe its the color scheme. Do you guys think it's alittle bit bland? I've only got 12 members and over 55 unique hits. Most of my visitors are lurkers and I've seen so many of them. Darn it...well if you guys would like to crash someone's party, my forum is open to all. Out of 12 members I have oh 3-4 active participants so I wouldn't mind anyone boosting that number up abit.

oh and I would use the same program this board is using but I only have 5 megs of space and I don't know if the messages are stored on my site.

Maybe I'm just use to SD.net colours, but gah, the blinding white background, it's too bright, my eyes! That's my only issue with it.

Oh if you want to join I have a very strange person on my board who's crying out to be flamed! I however can't flame him because I'm the moderator. (Read some of his weird and twisted ideas.

Ah, I was going to say use phpBB2. It still might be feasible, depending on how active your board is.
This board takes up about a megabyte right now, and there's four private forums (i.e., you won't be able to see them as a guest).
EDIT: And yes, the white is sort of annoying. Try changing it to #666666 or #999999.

And it fits really nicely with the rest of your stuff. The forum design is good, the problem's with me, I'm just too used to darker coloured forums.

actually...i just remembered flaming might be very difficult as there's a filter on the board. I haven't had time to really find where to turn it off.

think very few people are posting because they are being blinded by the light? lol

1) The website itself seems to be linked to the University of Calgary, and would unlikely attract much people from outside of that, or at least at first. Very few people outside the University would relate to say, selling used textbooks or any of the clubs there.
2) Secondly, I doubt the forum is all that old. Unless if the website itself was extremely popular, you'd have a slow growth. I've been around forums that have been around for close to a decade that only have around half a dozen regulars.
3) People seem to post a bit by momentum. Not many people would post much on a board that doesn't have alot of activity to begin with. This also affects registration, etc.
4) Going with number 3, it's probably split up into too many forums to start. Ideally, you have a low number of forums so there's more activity in each, less intimidating, etc and only split when nessaray. For instance, I'd at the very least collapse all the forums under 'Around the Campus' into one, Collapse the Discussion forums into one, etc.

you're probably right...I'll start collapsing the boards. I thought it would be a good idea to spread out a bit...

If anyone would like to join I would be very pleased to have some stardestroy.net posters for company. Maybe some of you could rub off the no nonsense, attitude onto my board?

well one of you joined cool! I'm hoping the forum will pick up starting in August when school starts up again. Right now everyone is too busy studying for finals. Probably be at it until end of the month. Then its summer and people have to work or play and therefore no time for posting on a forum.

You know what would help guys? Just sign up even if you don't plan to post on it. At least it'll make the board look more popular!
