I thought it was just an odd way of acronyming "for your information"

Acronyms can be useful at times, it's easier than typing the whole phrase. And besides, it produces humorous results when two nonrelated things end up sharing the same acronym.

Besides we wouldn't have such lovely things like FUBAR without acronyms

These are mostly abbreviations. Acronyms are abbreviations you can actually pronounce: LASER, SCUBA, FUBAR, SNAFU, etc.

I know most acronyms, but I've only seen GFU almost exclusively on WC3campaigns.com, so I assume it's a recent Net Rat thing. The phrase "pwned' also elludes me, other than being a varization of 'owned'.

*shudder* Utsano, don't mention wc3campaigns.com here. If the SD.net people went there and saw what most of the posters acted like, there would be more banned people then unbanned people when all was said and done.
