Help with Mozilla and certificates

There are many sites that Mozilla will not load. I get an error message saying that the certificate is invalid, code 8182 or some such. I downloaded the 1.3, uninstalled Mozilla and Netscape, deleted the folders, and did a clean install. I still get the problem. Is there anybody here who can help me? I realize that there might be a very simple and obvious solution, but please have mercy on me; when it comes to computers, I can at times be stupid, but once I understand it, I will usually remember it.

I have no idea what that problem is about. Perhaps if you provide a link to a site that is troubblesome?

Meanwhile check your security settings.

Nevermind, I deleted the default profile and now everything seems to work, though how it remembered my settings when I deleted the file folders I do not know. But now this site will load without the browser complaining about paypal.

If you're using XP, profile information is stored elsewhere on the machine, usually in C:\Documents and Settings  [your profile] Application Data  Mozilla  Profiles. Application Data might be hidden by default.
