Giving Blood

I gave blood today for the third time today. It's a pretty rewarding experience, makes you feel good about yourself.
How many of you guys have given blood? And since I am a man and I must make everything competitive, what is your record time for filling the bag? I hit six minutes today, a personal best.

I regularly give blood, I have no idea what my record time was, and I'm registered as an organ donor on my driver's license too, while we're at it.

Three times in one day!? Start drinking A LOT OF FLUIDS!!!
I can't give blood. something about me being gay, which I think is total bullshit IMO.

I get that too Einy, something about infections carried into the blood via anal sex. I'll ask a guy i know, he works on the blood donners help line in the call centre i used to work at.
Personally i don't like needles so i avoid them where possible. I am an organ donner and i'll happily give any part of me to those who need it, as long as i'm dead and finished with it.

Oh, no, three times in my entire life. I don't think the Red Cross will allow you to give three times in 4 months, let alone in one day.
And to my knowledge, the Red Cross does not discriminate against homosexuals, and doesn't refuse anyone the opportunity to give blood (they check for diseases anyway after you give the blood whether you lie or not, so no tainted blood should get through the system). You may have to give them some information on your behavior, but they won't refuse to take your blood, as far as I know.

I give on a fairly regular basis, if I don't the Red Cross pesters me till I come in, my blood type is fairly rare, B- on the Rh scale so only about 10% of the population has it.

Saddam was a regular donner, he was dishing out a pint a week so he could have the Kohran printed in his blood IIRC.

I have type A positive; not too rare, so they don't bother me much.

I'm needlephobic, have a low blood pressure and refuse to give blood. The one time I gave blood for tests, they poked me three times in one arm and twice in the other before they could get it right. Then it took nearly 10 minutes for me to fill a VIAL.

I've given blood twice now that my schedule has quieted down. I'm due back on the 20th of May actually. As for time, I filled the bag up in five minutes. I'm O-, so there's a fairly large demand for my blood.

I can't donate blood for six months because of my spleen injury and before that and in the future because I'm very prone to fainting and now on medication for it.

I gave blood once. They were overjoyed when they saw my vein big and prominent on the inside of my elbow, and as I recall I filled the thing tout suite. I'm almost a universal donor too (O+).

I have low pressure, something I got from my mom (today it was 98/64, really low for a guy) and I still bleed very quickly, oddly enough.
Not so for a lot of other people, though - there was this guy there when I gave blood who took fifty minutes to fill up the bag.

Generally they give you a bar code you can place on the blood bag. Basically, if you don't want to admit to something that makes your blood unusable, you can place the bar code on the bag and it will be trashed during processing out of hand.

I'm O negative, so the Red Cross guys love my blood (did it twice).

Oh goodie! Now I have a donor if anything ever happens to me. *grabs Frank and takes him off to lock him away so his blood can't go anywhere.*

I donate plasma, though I was told yesterday that my last donation had a high alcohol content and I couldn't donate again until they got a blood sample and analyzed it.

My dad gave blood about a year ago, which almost killed him as his blood pressure dropped to the point where it could no longer be detected. So I doubt he'll ever give blood again. My mom gives plasma every tuesday and friday, and always comes back with snacks which I eat. And I'm not old enough to give blood yet, and since I have a REAL discomfort with the idea of a needle sticking in my skin I probably never will.

I'm sure proper restraints and a gag will take care of that

I gave blood on a semi-regular basis up until a couple years ago when I suffered a head injury & some lingering after effects. I went to give blood about 9 months after whacking my head and ended up passing out and having dizzy spells for the next week. I'm type O negative BTW, it's too bad.

How nervous you are about giving blood is proportional to the amount of pain you will experience while doing so.
