Back(dur) from Pittsburgh comicon

Post by Ghost Rider »

First...danke about the title Mr Michael Wong...

Mmmmm coffee...focusing brain.

Now onto the story, well to start the day of Thursday(when I lurked about...and had as much time available as a rat in an electric chair. So everyone but me pack the hour before we leave(I am one of those annoying little gits about packing). Ariel(our penciller) in his wisdom gets ready around 7-8 PM. Well all goes well, except Ariel the wuss gets tired about halfway to Pitt. Well I take over...yabbering and planning for Friday. We get to the hotel around 2 AM...sign in and summarily collaspe.

Friday

7 AM

Dave and I get up...eat breakfast...take things(displays, comics, material) out of Ariel's car. As a side note...Ariel snores...and not lightly, I mean SNORE. Think low Yeti+some obnoxious animal noise and you get the slightest hint of Ariel's volume. Nonelthe less we unpack, and prepare. The con of itself first day goes pretty much normal(some attendence, not as much towards any real crowd...you see the new guy with money...see some olders fade away...see George Perez)

On a side note...George Perez is by far my fave comic personality(aside from Jamal and Andy...who are damn fun to be with). He is talkable and a funny man who attracts beautiful women.

Oh yeah and Ironhorse(Dave's company to which I'm the sorta kinda co owner something) sat across from the Star Wars chick booth(Amy Allen, Fermi Taylor, Rena Wilson...or Aalya Secura, Oola, and Taun We) So we had eye candy aside from what wandered by.

So day one of con ended well enough...and afterwards.

1:30 AM

I will say this...I was talking to a booth bunny that was sitting behind us...and um...well...uhwe got tipsy, happy, then had sex in her hotel room, then I went back to my booth the next dayenjoyed each other's company.

Saturday

Went to convention...Ariel freaked out because I came in late(mind you he's 3 years younger then me), Dave assumed the best and we went onto the con.

The con was definitly better, got a few more fans...talked to some older ones and annouced that next year we would have all twelve issues out by Next year in a GN format.

Went to see Rich Henn movie about the inside comic world...and this thing is damn fascinating(depends on love of comics, but hey it has interviews with Frank Miller, Joe Quesada, Barbara Kessel and other illuminaries...seriously it was worth the 20 bucks, and he's planning more...he has some 45-50 hours worth of material). Still con went well...ask George to do a Ghost Rider Full figure sketch, went to see how people were doing overall...this year was abit sucky for couple friends...and Josh Baylock's head(Writer of GI Joe's rebirth) has grown only slightly larger then a baby whale. Aspen(the new guys)...were playing Halo more then paying attention to the con. Found some great stuff(Z and ZZ Gundam DVD from Japan...with Subtitles). And also Bought Unicron the Statue....all 14+ inches.

So Saturday was good, Alexia the booth bunny and I talked about college and stuff.

Others went to party...I slept like log after reading some more of Excession

Sunday(oi)

Sunday was the winding down...not as much went on...was talking with John about new Buzzboy and he gave me a great scoop on a San Diego Fundraising book(have to submit story by around.....July). But if anyone wants in I'll ask(it'll have to be pro-bono...but hey great publicity if it gets through). Dave reserved the next year's table.

Then the trip back...oh jesus on a stick Ariel goes apeshit. It was like three days he was bottling shit so he could explode. And not just regular explosion, he was ranting how we were putting him down and repressing him.

To say the least...closest I ever wanted to beat his ass to a bloody pulp.

Sauntered in at 3:30 to greet kitty, and post, and slumped on couch

Nonetheless that is nice easy overview of my con.

Sounds like fun, you get a Unicron statue (BTW I hate you now), meet George Perez (I hate you even more now), stared at beautiful women all weekend (I've run out of places to stick pins into this Voodoo doll), Got an original Sketch of Ghost Rider (My rifle is loaded and I have airtickets in my hand) and got to 'meet' a girl called Alexia (damn, got to love you for that - getting 'acquainted' at a Comic Con, that's mojo worth respecting) :D

Glad to hear you had a good time - now where do i get these Air tickets refunded? :P

Heh, I was there as well (I rarely miss Comicon, since it's my my hometown). I was there on Saturday and dropped more money than I could really afford on graphic novels. :)

I know your wallets pain :D, I have far too many books, GN's and TPB's.
