All right, my niece was messing around with my sister's laptop and now all of her Icons are gone from her desktop. I've never had to deal with this before, and have no idea how to fix this for her. So, I come before you computer Gods, seeking help. Her OS is Windows ME.

I have XP but it might be similar so:


Goto Display properties-->Desktop-->Customize Desktop


Or what ever it is the place that shows the normal icons in a row with a bunch of checkboxes above it. Those might be checked off. Check them back on and your icons should/might come back.

Can you use the "system restore" feature? Maybe roll it back to yesterday?

Nope, this happened a few months ago. She just now brought it over to me.

Maybe the icons were moved off screen. Perhaps trying to rearrange them would work.

try: right-click desktop - > arrange icons - > auto arrange
