X-Men seen

Well, I saw X-Men 2 today. Few points:
- Long awaited Lady Deathstrike vs Wolverine was actually most boring fight scene in the movie.
- As expected, not a single proper use of word 'evolution'.
- That Mystique is HOT.
- Magneto is still coolest person around.

My, what a varied selection!

(I haven't seen
X2 yet...)
I prefer Halle Berry over RRS. She's so pretty...
And at least her Storm wig is much better this time around.
And that said...
NIGHTCRAWLER!!

Yes, Nightcrawler is cool!
The fight scene at the begining... WOW!!!
And Alan Cumming managed to actually speak quite understandable German (though heavily accented
)

Considering she can be who ever the hell she wants and very flexiable, and Magneto implies she uses it

I like the one that plays Jean Grey (Famke Janssen).

Indeed. Where are the mutants who develop mutations that
don't result in a survival advantage? Where's Diarrhea Boy?

Ian McKellen will always be the coolest actor ever. I have yet to meet one person who didn't agree that Gandalf was the coolest guy in all of LOTR. Damn he kicks ass.

Actually in X-Men, maybe not the movies, you do occasionally see mutants that have "powers" that don't amount to a survival advantage really.
Like one guy had the power of, being really really hairy. Seriously.

for evidence of useless power.
Doug Ramsey...the boy could translate stuff, and what do they do?
Put him in combat(he gets killed in the New Mutants, but by far just a pointless waste)

Famke's nice, but Anna Paquin is very sexy in her new uniform (though possibly a
bit on the young side). Other than that, I gots to have me some of that Kelly Hu, yum.

Exactly: "
occasionally." If it was evolution, you'd see a shitload of mutants with useless or detrimental mutations, while only a handful would have kick-ass X-Men superpowers. In other words, there'd be a lot more Massive Vomitous Excretions Boys running around.

Well making Ice is hardly up there as a kickarse power, and what exactly is the survival advantage of being magnetic, or not being able to open your eye's in a natural environment? It's not the powers, it's how strong they are and what the people involved do with them. Mind you Vomit boy ould have been a laugh.

I'm sorry to disappoint the Mystique fans, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the Jean Grey character.

Rob, did you just think about what you said? Two very big reasons as to why the first world is where it is is because of our ability to use the laws of thermodynamics and electromagnetism to our advantage. The fact that Magneto and Iceman can do these things without any kind of machinery or even a noticeable amount of work gives them a definitive survival advantage.

How? does it help them individually, can you give solid examples of how this would help in and of itself? Iceman can make Ice cubes, this is hardly the be all and end all of survival powers. What competitive edge does it give him? Magnus was nearly killed for exhibiting his powers, and before he pushed himself and increased his powers (through outside means) he strained to lift anything heavier than a gun. It was no better than having hands and not a survival trait.
Telepathy (if it could be controlled) gives a decided advantage, as does teleportation, or becoming invunerable, motile steel, and contrlling the weather is a big plus, as is a healing ability, but not all the ones in the films or the comics are anything close to useful outside of crimefighting in sctrictly controlled comicbook settings.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night
I'm happy to see from the trailers that not only are we getting Kurt, but Kitty too (though probably not in as big a role), so the have the soul and heart of the X-men respectively in place. Hope they use her properly, and that Jubilee gets a bigger part too. Oh and Peter, the kids need there gentle giant guardian.

In my eyes Halle Berry with that white wig is very epitome of human beauty
but honestly that cannot compete with blue skin and scales.

So I've heard. I still consider whether I'm going to see it again, and I went to see even Daredevil twice. So it wasn't that good, I think.

I just got back from seeing it, looks like Bryan Singer and David Hayter took to heart the downfalls of the first and made sure that same mistake wasn't made again.
And Nightcrawler rules, though he should've said "I'm INVINCIBLE!" at least once.

I don't see all that many downfalls in the first.
It laid the foundation of what he used in this movie.
Like Singer said, the first one'S like the trailer for X2
And as a sidenote: The real eye cather of course was Wolverine. Sooo hot

The ability to disrupt the operation of biological and mechanical functions is certainly a plus. While it's a flagrant violation of the second law of thermodynamics, Iceman can simply remove energy from a system at will.
What competitive edge does it give him? Magnus was nearly killed for exhibiting his powers, and before he pushed himself and increased his powers (through outside means) he strained to lift anything heavier than a gun. It was no better than having hands and not a survival trait.
Hands and coordination develop over time; the same is true for mutant powers, apparently. With practice, Magneto attained more precise control and more ability to affect magnetic fields, just like a body builder does with his muscles and just like an artist does with his hands. The fact that the powers have to develop doesn't mean that they're not survival advantages.
If Iceman was dropped into a forest and forced to live off the land, he'd be able to refrigerate his own food, freeze predators in their tracks and a host of other things that would give him a giant survival advantage. Magneto in that same setting probably wouldn't be as well off. However, in an urban environment, he has a big advantage.

The only downfalls were some dodgy CGI and ther length, but I guess the first film in a great series does pale sometimes, I know The Matrix looks a lot less appealing now Matrix: Reloaded is coming out.
I just knew the film would end when we saw that shimmer in the water though, gah!
