OK, I decided that instead of returning my extra B5 2nd season DVD set (I accidentally ordered two sets instead of one), I would make it into a prize for SD.Net members!!!

So, post here to explain why you think you deserve my extra B5 2nd season DVD set!!! Winner will be selected by Monday, and gets it mailed to him, no strings attached.

Note: it's NTSC, not PAL, so you Europeans are out of luck unless you can somehow play NTSC DVD's on your machines.

I just met a girl who has three extremely interesting traits.

1. She is definitely female.
2. She is definitely attractive (short, perky, and fun!)
3. She likes Babylon 5.
No, I’m not shitting you. This is a cute girl who likes sci fi. I'm taking her to the prom, and this DVD set would make an excellent centerpiece for a romantic evening in my living room, after said prom.

Do a young man about to head off to college a favor, and help assure that he can enter the next phase of his life with a smile on his face and a spring in his step! Send me the DVDs.

Just so you know, if you have a DVD-rom you can usually get it to play other formats.

Um, I think you're a swell guy.

Other than that, I've been a big B5 fan ever since July 27th, 1994 when I was flipping channels, and spotted B5 by mistake. A Voice in the Wilderness was playing, and I flipped onto the show during a scene where Sinclair and Ivonova were descending into the dark cavern in their shuttle. I mistakened the scene for TESB where the Millenium Falcon descended into the asteroid. I quickly realized that this was not Star Wars, but was still cool. The episode ended in a cliff hanger, and I was hooked permenantily after watching the next episode.

As you can see, I'm a rabid fan. I'm also a poor college student working on a commercial multi certificate. I don't have anywhere near the funds necessary to buy any episode sets.

The first time i saw Babylon 5 was when they first aired The Gathering it was the coolest thing since Star Wars,no warp ship or teleporters and the jumpgate made B5 stand apart from other sci-fi and no Star Trek Political Correctness.
Babylon 5 is the best series ever made. 8)

I've been a fan eversince I first saw Thirdspace. I caught it and was hooked. Since then I've devoured anything and everything B5 that I can get my hands on. I've seen every episode and read all the novels (even the bad ones) and comics I can find . I've even read the Lurker's Guide's archived posts by JMS.

Unfortunately now I can no longer get B5 on tv. I can't afford the DVDs I've so long waited for. Thanks to college and the attendant expenses I can't afford the set. I've missed out on the first season and have no prospect of getting it.

Please, please help a deprived Fiver out.

Ive watched B5 since they showed the original pilot episode as a weeknight movie on Fox. I was hooked from the opening monologue with Londo talking about the 'last of the Babylon Stations'. It blew me out of my seat like nothing since I saw RotJ on the big screen. Jump Gates, interesting alien races, fighters that flew and fought three dimensionally!!!Its one of the few sci-fi series I will unreservedly reccomend to anyone who wants to see quality science fiction, or quality television for that matter.

If you want to give it to a true fan and supporter of all things B5, Im your loyal minion.

Plus your a swell guy Mike.

Lets see...I watched the B5 pilot when it originally aired, and then started watching the series from day one till its conclusion. I even watched all thirteen episodes of Crusade as well as all four TV movies spun-off from the B5 TV series. I even own two of the novels from those movies ("In The Beginning" and "A Call to Arms"). I even registered at firstones.com when the B5 flight sim "Into the Fire" was cancelled and gave my support when I could.

Lastly, I'll do anything to get that boxset....and I do mean ANYTHING.

I'm a member of Babtech. Give it to me, Ted, or Brian.

Frankly, I think Brian should get it :)

About 2 years ago, I saw my first episode of Babylon 5. After that I was hooked.

Unfortunatly, after watching only 11 episodes, they took it off the air. I am serious. There was only one station, of all the stations that I could get, showing Babylon 5. And they took it off the air just as I was getting interested.

Now, I have to endure almost this entire board raving about how good is.

So give it to someone who will really appreciate it.

I've never seen B5, but I've heard good things about it...

Best I can do.

Why?

Well, I can think of several reasons.

1 - At the moment I am sitting on a computer in a library at uni putting the finishing touches on two assignments due in 3.5 hours, that I have to get in in 1.5 hours so I can go and work at a minimum wage job that I have no doubts that I'm about to be fired from, leaving me unable to pay my rent, university fees, let alone buy food. So Babylon 5 season 2 would bring light into my life.

2 - Is there a word limit on our shameless grovelling? I couldn't see any reference to one so I shall move on to point number 3.

3 - I am about to graduate from university with a degree that though not being worthless will make it hard for me to get a job at this time of year, because all the graduate positions don't hire until January. As such, I'm about to be unemployed with far to much spare time. I'm sure watching Babylon 5 season 2 on DVD and writing detailed technical commentaries will take up atleast *some* of that time.

4 - My girlfriend has heard of this strange Babylon 5 phenomenon, but she does not understand. Please, give me the means with which to enlighten her!

5 - In your own words I'm "a pretty cool guy"

6 - *waves hand slightly*
Image

You are feeling an overwhelming urge to send me the box set.

7 - This is Tasmania. Yes, its about as interesting as it looks. Babylon 5 Season 2 DVD box set can change that.

Image

8 - "Physically impossible Mr Wong, but you're welcome to try."

Image

Bester thinks its best if you just send me the Babylon 5 Season 2 box set.

9 - A Babylon 5 Season 2 boxset going through the mail could be mistaken for an evil French-Muslim-Afghani-Iraqi-Syrian-Al'Qaeda-"do-it-yourself"-terrorist-cookbook-evil-non-American-bomb! Imagine all the fun you could have filling out the customs declaration in inventive ways!

10 - The sooner you just give in and decide to give me the Babylon 5 Season 2 box set, the sooner I can stop these pitiful appeals to authority, emotion and style of substance fallacy filled pleas, and get back to doing my uni work.

Awww c'mon, can you resist the little guy? Look at these puppy eyes!

*Gives Wong the cute puppy eyes*

It could be a belated birthday present, too. My birthday was only a week ago; get in your gifts while I still except them! I mean, I do deserve a birthday present for being a top-rate member since the first week of SD.NetBBS. I mean, who else posts top-quality, totally believable, Gnomish propaganda like I do? So a birthday present for a role-model SD.Netter, sounds good, no?

Or Alternatively....

SOMEWHERE IN TORONTO:

*a trio of ninjas burst through the window of Wong's home, catching him off guard at his computer. The two ninjas do battle with the esteemed warrior of logic, while the third rushes to The Secret Hiding Spot of Bab-5 DVDs - and stuffs them in a large bag*

All your DVDs are belong to us!

*The pair fighting Wong quickly flee from battle with their third counterpart into a helicopter hovering low outside, as they whisk away into the night*

Naw, I'm just kidding. I dunno where you live, and even if I did *hides crowbar innocently behind his back* I wouldn't break in, really!

So, Happy Birthday Gnome? Here's Season two of B5, enjoy? Be a pal, not a party pooper.

Did you ever know you were my hero? You are everything I would like to be! I can fly higher than an eagle; so give those god damned DVDs!

I'm too poor to go out and buy it, and I've never seen B5. If you send it to me, you will allow me to experience Babylon 5. Also, I'm not using any fallacies and I'm keeping this short.
