If any of you do maintenance of anything...
What size drives do you have for ratchets, sockets and the like? I assume they'd be metric, but I've never seen or heard of such a thing.

You've never encountered metric ratchets or sockets? Yes they exist and you can buy them in American easily.

Oh hell, I've used tons of metric sockets and wrenches. What I want to know is what size the drives of ratchets over in Europe are. You know, over here you've got your 1/4" drive tools, 3/8" drive, and 1/2" drive.
I assume Europeans would use metric, being in Europe, but I've never seen or heard of such things, and they seem unnecessary.

Hell, I've used them. They're in millimeters and such. Not really that different.

This is why I wish us silly Americans would go full Metric.
Keep the old Imperial system for measuring gun calibers and penis sizes tho

Are you kidding? If we switch cock length to metric my length fuckin doubles!
Keep the Imperial system for measuring gun calibers and American sports. And keep miles, kilometers suck.

Backward Americans! You still cling to old leftovers of the British rule!
(Yeah, they are in metric, like everything else.)

Ha! Liberia and Burma are also resisting this French menace to which so many have already fallen.

the metric system, one of the few good things coming from France
I've seen tools listed with inches and millimeters, dont really know which is more common since I dont use them very often.

Mountain Dew makes people go blind and pee radioactive gunk for weeks on end.
I have no recollection of the taste as it burnt most of my taste receptors upon impact.

Here in the UK socket drivers and so forth are all measured in inches. 1/4,3/8,1/2,3/4 and 1", square drive. I too have never heard of a metric size, and I assume the same is true for the rest of Europe, since I own numerous German tools, all in the inch sizes. It's a backwards compatibility thing I guess. Same applies for other things, eg compressed air fittings, are, IIRC 1/2".
There's a plethora of actual bolt sizes here. Metric(millimetres) and numerous Imperials - AF,UNC,Whitworth, all commonly encountered.

Sure there aren't dual standard ones that are in inches and millimetres?
Oh and welcome and great avatar choice.

In Germany, everything is standardized in the DIN norms (Deutsche Industrienorm).
And I mean everything, from the size of a screw, to paper sizes...
And all things are specifically standardized using the metric system.
