So, did A Beautiful Mind actually deserve to win the Oscar, or did it just get the Oscar because it was a weepy biopic?

That was one of the best movies I have ever seen actually. It definently deserved that Oscar.

So I'm watching "A Beautiful Mind", and then it hits me.......I'd rather be watching Gladiator!

I'm just irritated because Lord of the Rings got robbed two years in a row; the first year by a film that seemed as if it was made for no other purpose than to win the Best Picture award, and its chances of winning Best Picture for Return of the King seem extremely distant and fleeting.

ABM was a fine movie but should have lost to FotR in the best picture category. Certainly Peter Jackson should have won for best director regardless of which movie won best picture.

HERETIC! You have absolutely no justification for continuing to post on this board while Gladiator remains unseen by you.

And while ABM was a rather good movie, FoTR was clearly superior and deserved the Oscar.

I know! Two years in a row I've had to be restrained from shoving a brick through the TV! :x I mean, "Chicago"?!? "A Beautiful Mind"!?! WTF was with that???

Grr. Why did Ron Howard win Best Director? He made another movie. Dear God, Ron Howard made a movie! Peter Jackson made a record-breaking success out of a film that up until then had been considered impossible to make.

I don't see why they even bother to nominate the LotR movies when it's obvious that they aren't going to win.

No, it didn't. It was okay, but it paled before Fellowship.

Probably to make the appearence of being fair. They can say it was under consideration, but A Beautiful Mind was just better.

Even though anybody with eyes and a brain can see that LotR:FotR was a far superior movie.

DID THEY NOT SEE the scene where Legolas stabs an Orc through the eye with an arrow and then shoots THAT SAME ARROW into another orc!? DID THEY NOT SEE!?!?!?!?!?!????

Not depressing or dramatic enough. Legolas didn't question himself or have a personal revelation after pulling his ultra-cool stunt, so the Academy obviously ignored it.

That movie fucking sucks. It was good, it was interesting and it should have stopped about 45 mins earlier. My girl had me watching it, so when it started getting boring I had to batten down the hatches and deal with it. I've sort of irked her seeing how I told her that. Heh. Man, I am a dumbass.

Seriously though, it should have ended knowing that he was coping with it and that he'd be cured.

Don't you all know? No movie, unless it had some heavy drama in it, can *ever* win best picture.
