How 'bout "None Of The Above?"Enforcer Talen wrote:and why?
I'm afraid it's not that simple, Talen.Enforcer Talen wrote:Id choose 1984, cuz I can lie with a straight face. of course big brother loves me.
God, no.. They don't implement those torture devices in real life..2000AD wrote:Isn't Clockwork Orange just the real world?
First of all, you wouldn't have to ask that if you really understood the book, not just have read it.Enforcer Talen wrote:. . .really? how so?
The movie or the book? Because they're not the same.Enforcer Talen wrote:clockwork orange looks like your typical debauchery.
Room 101 is if you fuck up. Period.Enforcer Talen wrote:room 101 is only if you dont toe the party line.
If you fuck up, you get put int hat machine thing that replays things over and over. (Been a while since I've seen it)clockwork orange looks like your typical debauchery.

yep. which is why they are in the same topic.verilon wrote:Room 101 is if you fuck up. Period.Enforcer Talen wrote:room 101 is only if you dont toe the party line.
true enough.

They're all about mind control.
No, it doesn't have to be killing someone to fuck up (at least in 1984). Basically you fuck up in any way and get caught, you get punished.Enforcer Talen wrote:yep. which is why they are in the same topic.
so dont get caught and dont kill anyone. security seems amazingly lax.
Even those in the Inner Party can fuck up, my friend. You're not seeing the point...Enforcer Talen wrote:about clockwork orange, indeed.
about 1984. . . someone has to be doing the catching. I might try my hand at that.
I'm getting the feeling that Talen has only seen the movies/read the books without truly understanding their contents or meanings. How superficial.verilon wrote:Even those in the Inner Party can fuck up, my friend. You're not seeing the point...Enforcer Talen wrote:about clockwork orange, indeed.

Well, I read 1984 three years ago, and my favorite part was the excerpt from The Book. The movie I didn't like so much. A Clockwork Orange, I have yet to read the book, but I'd like to.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I'm getting the feeling that Talen has only seen the movies/read the books without truly understanding their contents or meanings. This one, I have no idea what it's about, and I'd also like to read this one.. And the others on the list, as well, as 1984 is the only book of these that I have read.At least he's not talking about Fahrenheit 451. Utsanomiko would tear him a new one before he could get halfway through his misinterpretation.
First of, it's not "very." Second, about the Inner Party ~ whether you are Inner Party, Outer Party or prole, you get caught if you do something wrong. If it's bad enogh (which is likely to be anything), you get put in Room 101. Or threatened with it, at the very least, from my understanding of it.Enforcer Talen wrote:-shrugs- been a yr since I read either of them. 1984 is in the mail.
and, very, the killing thing was referring to clockwork orange. I dunno how it would go over in 1984.
about the inner party, what is your point, exactly?
