Tattoo Designs By Request

Post by Queeb Salaron »

So here's the deal: I design tattoos as a hobby, usually for friends and family. And I've had about a dozen different people use about three dozen of my designs, so I guess I'm at least half-decent. Hell, I even have some of my own stuff on me. But business has been slow. No one wants a tattoo right now, or else they don't have the money for more ink, so they're not looking for designs. At least no one I know is, anyway. So I'm bored. This is where you, faithful SDnetters, come in.

I'm not looking for people who are serious about getting tattoos. I just need ideas so that I have something to do. Generally I take themes and make tribal stuff out of them (I'm a big fan of monochromatic art), but if I become inspired, I've been known to go the more traditional route. So hit me up with ideas or themes and body locations (if you have any). Of course, if you ARE looking for a tattoo, lemme know. I'll see what I can draw up.

I'll post the drawings on this thread, if I can find a host for the pictures, or else I'll email various requests to the people who request them. Let's hear it!!

I fucking hate tribals coz they're too trendy to be permanent.

BUt - can you tribalify some bats for my shoulder?

(maybe this should be moved to AP)

::Makes list:: 1. Tribal Bats. Ok. Any specific number? One for each shoulder? Same one on both? Or just go hog-wild? :)

Yeah, maybe this should be in AP, now that I think about it...

Some variety of lengthwise pattern on the arms could be interesting. Tribal?

Lengthwise pattern, eh? Most of the time you hear people ask for armbands that go across the arm. I have a design you might like, though. It goes from the shoulder to just above the elbow. Anyone wanna host an image for me??

Ok, innerbrat, I've got a preliminary design done. (I'm surprised at how quick it was, too.) Two tribalesque bats (I strayed from mainline Tribal a bit, 'cuz you said you thought it was too trendy.) So PM me and tell me if you want me to send it to you via email, or if you'd rather wait the 24 hours or so to have it posted here.

Either way, I think I'll post it here as an example piece. ::Shrugs:: Artist's preroggative, and all.

<-- has a tribalized dragon on his back

If I can get a picture of my back scanned, I want a sword that goes down my spine. I'll get some details on it when I can.

Very cool idea. I like it a lot. Are you thinking of having the hilt at your neck or at your back? Personally, I'd think that a sword with the knob of the pommel in the middle of your neck and the catch across your shoulderblades would look cool. But if you don't want it to show above your collar, then you might have to either move it down, or put the hilt at the base of your spine. That would look cool, too, I should think.

Definately keep in touch, though. I'd love to design that.

Ok, this is a work in progress for inerbrat.

I'm still working on getting that immage up for Hyperion. It should be up sometime today.

EDIT: I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the two heads. And, of course, I'm going to clean up the lines a little bit. I'll do it in ink when I get a chance. This project was actually a bit of fun, because it really took me a while to get the general shapes down for the bats. I've never done bats before.

Also the bottom bat's head will probably need to be changed. It was the last thing I did, and I rushed it a bit rather than trying to remain accurate to the figure like I did with the top bat. Like I said, I took out a lot of the solid tribal points and replaced them with triangle fillers. I think this gives it a less traditional look, and it actually plays well with the visible tendons in a bat's wings.

Of course, beauty is in the eye of the person being tattooed, so if you want me to make any changes (or even add a third bat, though that'll get pricey) just say so.

Ok, Hyperion, I finally got that design hosted. So here she is. The general design can be modified however you'd like it to be; I'm rather versitile on this, because to be honest it's not completely my own. The radial part on top was a design that I saw in a Tattoo magazine. The tail is all mine, though (which, actually, isn't really anything special. It's one of my earlier works.)

The radial part takes up pretty much the whole shoulder, and the tail ends right above the elbow. This tattoo is designed for the right arm, so the curve accentuates the natural curve of the bicep. I could tweak it a bit, if you'd like, to have it cover more of the arm.

Anyway, without further adieu:

Actually, that was *exactly* what I was thinking of. However, you'll have to see the dragon before you can make judgment on what the sword will look like behind it. There are a lot of symbols that I want on it, so that'll be a major factor..

The more intricate, the greater the challenge, the more I like the idea of doing it. Send the pic on over, and I'll see what I can do with it. shaw.ma@neu.edu

A very cool and interesting design. Btw, by lengthwise, I did mean down the length of the arm.

You probably will find this amusing in some way:

I find tattoos rather fascinating from the artistic aspect, and am planning to eventually get one, but it has to have meaning to me. The funny part is that my parents would lynch me, dispite it being my body.

And, yes, I like the design.

Btw, I probably have some old symbol drawings that you would probably enjoy looking over for ideas for future designs for other people.

My parents nearly DID lynch me for even MENTIONING getting at tattoo, but I did it anyway. I'm planning on getting more than a few more, but there's a small problem: No matter which way you cut it, ink is expensive. In a way, my finances are the only thing getting in the way of my parents absolutely killing me. Poverty never tasted so good. :)
And, yes, I like the design.
Why thankee. :)

I'm always in the mood to look over stuff that could potentially give me new ideas. Throw 'em up on the board, or send 'em to me, or whatever. It would reek of awesomeness. :)

Unfortunately, it's more of a matter of getting a hold of a camera. And in all randomness, I will be getting a picture of my "evil" kanji on my neck for ya. :P

The one thing that bothers me about getting a tat is the simple fact that if I get it, and down the road I decide that I don't want it any more, it costs A LOT of money to have it removed.

Isn't there the posibility of scaring if you have one removed by laser??

Thanks Queeb - a little too tribal for my taste, but I appreciate the thought.

Bryan - that is why I decided what I wanted, where I wanted it, and waited for a year before I got a tattoo, because i knew I wanted it.

Hyperion - that's why I waited til I was 18 and out of the house before I even thought of getting one. I never told them, of course, just let them find out when I bent over to set the video/plug in my computer etc etc.

I have the first, and I want the second, as well as one that says "Spirit." Personal reasons for it. And the kanji I *do* have is just the outline of it.

Ah, right. I misunderstood; I thought you meant that evil is one of the two you wanted.

Which spirit? There are several that could fit that word.
