Well, havent I had a good day, strolled down into Lancaster to find the rather pleasant surprise of a genuine french market in full bloom, am now the proud possessor of lots of croissant, some chicken provencale, mixed peppercorns and a large hole in my bank balance from which a faint whiff on onions and the sound of the French national Anthem can be heard.

But I am also now the short-term owner of a large quantity of olives... so, the question you's gotta ask yourselves is, do I like Green Olives, or do I like Black?

And just out of interest, does anyone know what soil conditions and weather I need to grow an olive tree?

Well, in answer to my own question, as I didnt actually give an answer, green olives, not overly ripe, smothered in chilli oil, is my current snack of choice... got to love the greek market stalls of Lancaster. :D Can't stand black olives that are over ripe, too damn mulshy, and dont taste great. IMO. :)

Green Olives! Black ones look like cockroaches with their legs chewed off!

And they have to have the stones in, so you can chew the stones, pick them clean, and then put a suit on and look like some greek version of a Matrix agent... (guess what I saw last night ;))

Definite preference for black olives, though I'm not really a big fan of olives. Green olives are just too tart for my taste.. don't much like the pimento..

I prefer the green olives, they have for flavor in my opinion.

Are they a different colour? Don't think I've run into anything that hasnt been green or black (sometimes slightly reddish-green)...

EDIT: ah, no, got you... green olives dont always have the pimento in them, shop bought ones tend to be the ones with pimentos in brine, most commonly anyway. Green olives in the poll - as in just the colour of the olive rather than its filling or container...

They're kind of purplish, actually...

Ah, ok, ignore that edit I just did then :), yeh, I dont mind those ones, but prefer the green :)

EDIT: Well then, if a passing minstrel or moderator would be so kind, could they add 'those purpley ones' as a new option on the poll, especially for Verilion? I assume I can't re-edit the poll...

:luv: :luv: :luv: I LOVE black olives. No stones. The nice, juicy, big ones. I can eat like 40 of them in one sitting, with nothing else (other than a glass of milk). Mmmmmmmm. :luv: :luv: :luv:

Black ones are best on a pizza. Green ones are best in a jar(IMO).
