For some reason my mouse has dissapeared in Windows 2000. Do any of you know how I can get it back?

Well it could be a large number of things.
The 1st question is:
Is it plugged in?
- They can become lose, which means they arent connected properly
What type of mouse is it?
- If it is Optical, is it 'on' ie the little light is on went you move the sucker
- If it is analog, moving parts = parts to break
-- Try pulling it apart, and seeing if anything is broken.
Is a mouse installed/working in the Device manager?
Answer a few of those questions, and then it should be posible to determine if it is a hardware or software problem.

If it's a USB mouse, sometimes Windows 2000 fails to initialize the device. In that case, simply unplug and plug the mouse back in and it should start working again.

It's the same mouse I've been using for over a year. It works fine on Linux, but after my most recent insrall of Win2K, it doesn't work any more.
Try getting around Win2K without a mouse . . .

I used to have to install Win98 machines for the first time without a mouse. I got pretty good at the keyboard.
Look at the Device Manager find out if the mouse has a yellow exclamation point. Have you tried booting into safe mode and seeing if the mouse appears there?

It seems to be there randomly when I boot into it. Strange.

In that case, the cable's probably loose or something. Maybe the plug needs cleaning.
