Worst Fanfic?

This thread is inspisred by the "Qui-Gon/Yoda" thread.

As you all know, Internet Fanfiction is becoming an inevtable part of fandom. Some fanfiction is actually decent, others are really damn good. However, the vast majority fall under the category of "inspid and tripe."

However, there are several examples of fanfiction that just makes you want to shoot yourself, toss yourself off a roof, pound your head against the wall etc. Fanfiction that would drive those who created the original article to furious insanity. Fanfiction that makes gods weep.

You know what I'm talking about.

So, what are some of the more putrid offerings you have read so far?

Portal is a good start for a SW/ST crap list.

Portal is a good start of crap
I did read it, and hate it.
I wonder what did the author smoked, before he began to write this crap.

For all-around worst fanfic, two words: Artemis' Lover. To this day I don't know if Oscar was intentionally trying to be that bad.

And of course, there's the utterly infamous Tenchi fanfic Kanashii no Imi by "Leaf-chan" -- a self-insert pedophile snuff fic. I don't think even the MSTers would touch that one, and it is the only case on record I can think of that resulted in an author being banned from the FFML (Fan Fiction Mailing List) for following the list's mandate (posting fanfiction). A shame the author gets off on that stuff, because KnI was grammatically sound and structually well-organized, which a lot of fanfiction as of late isn't.

For Trek/Wars fanfiction, I'd say Portal, but I had the misfortune of reading Star Destroyers Rampant first, so I dislike that more. Portal was probably the more badly-written of the two, but SDR could have been tightened up significantly, and the narrative changed to be less "yay, Empire!" and more neutral.

EDIT: The last sentence was chopped off somehow when posted, so I restored it.

The sad thing about writing quality was that Star Destroyers Rampant was written by a Japanese student living with his family in Hong Kong. Portal was written by a teacher living in England. I dislike Portal more.

"YOU ARE SAYING IMPUDENCE TO ME! THAT IS IMPUDENCE!"

This is obviously intentionally bad, but it's not far off from the stuff out there.

Star Destroyers Rampant is widely aknowledged as the worst pro-Wars piece of fanfiction out there. Second Contact is fairly shitty, as well.

I'll agree with Portal being a piece of shite. However, there is a lot at fanfiction.net with horrible grammar, terrible plots, etc. There's just a lot of crap out there.

For Evangelion fanfiction Hellstorm Evangelion and Delta Invasion compete for the title of "Worst Eva Fanfic", with Hellstorm having lower-quality writing and Invasion having a more annoying plot, self-inserted character, and abundance of general out-of-characterness.

Portal is the worst that I've "read", though I more skimmed it to preserve brain cells. I'm sure we can find worse though.

Most Stargate: SG-1 fanfiction is appallingly crap. Even stuff which is structurally & grammar correct, with a semi-good plot & good characterization will often actually be a bad SG-1 fanfic.

The SGC is a military operation, not a civilian.

The SGC is a large powerful, military organization, were a 3 star general reports directly to the president.

It costs ~1 billion US dollars just to turn the lights on, in the SGC. This isnt even operational cost, let allown the secondary bases & other offworld projects.

The SGC itself, is 40 floors under Norad. They will lock down the entire facility at the drop of a pin, they have a nuclear bomb to destroy the base if required, were the President of the USA has zero say in its use.

They retrofited 2 ICBMs to atack orbital targets, and the only reason they didnt do more is they didnt have the time!

They moved an entire saturn class rocket & rebiult it on another planet!

The SGC has under its command at least a dozen interplantary fighters, with at least 2 capital ship class starships. (We know they have spent nearly 10 billion dollars on the research & development of the cap ships)

If the SGC tells(and has a good reason) the President to nuke some area, it is just a matter of how big a bang & and how its delivered(ICBM, cruse missile, or bomb).

And the most scary parts is, they have kept the SGC nearly completely secret for 7 years. The Russians only found out about the Stargate when an idiot defected to them, and a stargate literally fell into their hands.

Most people cant write military fiction, its just too different a mind set.

And if I see another fanfic about the NID kidnaping someone cos they have some special attributes (ie naquada in their blood, their alien etc) I'll scream. The NID really only cares about technology, and methods to combat the Goa'uld. And more importantly, the aliens themselves are useless to them, it just ends up pissing people off. And the NID is not stupid, just understandablly persistent.

It's a writhing mass of bad fanficts... Take a look at the Gundam and DBZ sections. Then look at the Naruto part, where about 25% if Shonen-ai...

Some of the Eva stuff is ok, but much of it is really bad. Then there's those microwave love ficts, where two people fall in love and get married in 5000 words.

I HATE FanFiction.net with a passion, to quote myself its a circle-wank of the most useless fucking writers on the net who recycle plotlines, but merely change the character sets. They aren't even creative enough to use the characters in a creative fashion and 90% of the time they include gratuitous fan-service that no doubt they wrote one-handed because they are such pathetic fucking wankers who get off on such things. ASVS has been complemented many times in the past for having the most consistently high level of fanfic quality on the net, no small achievement at all.

Sailor Moon has the tendancy to inspire some of the worst fanfics I have seen, both grammatically, plotwise, and continuity wise.

And thusly the reason why I never, ever read fan-fiction is laid clear for all to see. In my opinion, the first hurdle any budding writer should pass is to invent their own scenarios, characters and worlds. The first hurdle. People who refuse to pass it are, usually (not always, granted) bloody inept writers.

Well, not all fanfiction is so ineptly written, but FF.net is a prime example of how bad it can get. Most ASVS fics though taking characters and ideas from other works are generally VERY inventive.

Every once in a while, there's a little gem on FanFiction.Net, though. I just got done reading one of the best pieces of fiction I've ever read on that site, but the author has mysteriously disappeared and left it unfinished, unfortunately.
