But that was to destroy his technology and keep it out of the supposedly evil nitrate and phosphate mining slavers. Anyway, while I only read the book once long ago I dont recall him doing any such thing in the book or even having a base.

I suppose so. I had always thought of them as an East India Trading Company Redux.

Please, join me in a 10 minute hate of the Trektards...Nemo mentions
"Rura Penthe" in the movie, but every google reference is for
that goddamned place in ST:VI

Does anyone remember the old Willy Fog cartoons? They were funny, Captain Nemo as a James Mason-esque fox with a big moustache and an enormous organ (oooh, sorry, couldnt resist... :)), a completely made-up host of characters including a Russian circus critter, ( I think, it's been a while), and Willy Fog - an enormous lion with a top hat. It was good stuff - most of the big events were there although there was plenty that wasnt supposed to be there.

Although now I think about it, the Persian Cat Princess was doing nothing for female stereotypes at the time, IIRC, she spent most of her time saying things like 'Oh, Willy, I'm frightened...' etc.

Still, the Captain Nemo fox was great, like all the best evil bad guys, with an english accent and fantastic manners. :)

Yes I remember that stupid cartoon.

The worst was Tycho the mouse and Rigodon the cat.

Ps: The most annoying was the indian cat who represented the princess.
