ASU Coward

I remember once upon a time, back in the day, when Mike talked about possibly having to ban the entire Arizona State network to keep ASU Coward away. ASU kinda offered me a full ride scholarship, so I'm going to be down there this fall. Did this blanket ban ever happen, and if it did, is it still considered necessary?

Well, at my college, most dorm rooms were wired. Everyone who hooked their computer to the net using the resnet system had a static IP. Perhaps, if the same is true in your case, then AK can set aside a small hole for you to get in. You wouldn't be able to log in from any other campus terminals though.

Another possibility is to run something like AOL through the University's connection. I did that for awhile where I work to bipass the blocks they had put on certain sites. I don't know if that would work in the case you are suggesting.

I would think you should also be able to utilize an IP other than ASU's from your dorm. It might mean using a dial-up modem if running it through the University's connection still gets you identified as being at ASU.

Wasn't there a Simpsons (or similar cartoon) that made a jab about ASU? LOL! "..easier to get into than Arizona State!"

Just playing. I know they have a great residency program.

Though what forever is ingrained in my head about ASU is the case of Fiona Yu, a business student that was raped and killed there. I was watching the Discovery channel and they were showing her case and it was heart breaking. They injected clips of her graduating, with her friends and then re-enactments.. I was haunted for nights on end.

So, any chance I could actually get a reply from Mike on this? I'm not sure if said blanket-ban actually occured.

As this may be an administrative sort of question, have you tried PMing him about it?

I suppose I could do that.
