Why would someone make a story like this public?

Every time I see a story like this, the image of our world gets a bit scarier in my mind...

Am I the only one who finds this incredibly funny and not at all gross? Strangely enough one of my co-workers had a similar (but not nearly as severe) problem after he ripped his ass open taking a dump.

I found it quite funny too. I found it to be like gross-out humor, and the descriptions of the events and accompying drawings were more funny than gross.
