And Gollum won Best Virtual Performance. Naturally, MTV honors those which the Academy does not. All in all, it was a good ceremony with only 3 performances, the only one I enjoyed being T.A.T.U.'s Watch it and you'll find out why; here's a hint: I think their music sucks.
Yoda's acceptance speech was great, as was Gollum's.
I know these are voted for by the fans, but for fuck's sake, why did Eminem win two awards for playing himself? What's next? Do I get a trophy for going to work?

I'm not sure how Yoda looked, but Gollum was pretty good. Not as good as he was in the movie. But still pretty damn good

You're not the only one.

*waves "Jedi Mind Trick" hand* Play Yoda off, nobody does.

Somebody should have told that fucking idiot that he was winning an award on
MTV, not
Comedy Central. It's ugly to watch a grown man give an acceptance speech that's basically aping the "Special Ed" character from
Crank Yankers.

I also like him paying hommage to Queen Latifah, very nice touch.

I wonder if they already knew that Yoda and Gollum would win, or if they did the rendering and effects work just in case they did.

IMDb had the winners days ago, so they knew.

Didn't Gandalf vs. Sauron win best fight last year? I guess the voters must like Christopher Lee.

T.A.T.U was great...
where else can you see a bunch of schoolgirls rish the stage and take off clothes but MTV?

If your work is being an actor or singer, then yes, you might

His first acceptance speech was good (he snuck in a jab at Mariah Carry for her utterly catastrophic failure at the big screen known as "Glitter," which she deserves, as far as I'm concerned). Nice, short, nothing like his Video Music Awards one. His second speech was stupid after the first 5 seconds.
But seriously, how did a guy with a name like "
Eminem," playing
himself in a movie about
his own life, win over a guy with a name like "
Vigo Mortensen," who played a legendary character from arguably the most timeless set of books known to man? Where was the challenge for Eminem? Where was the effort? Mortensen basically enveloped himself in his character so much that he carried his sword
everywhere he went, even into restaurants! Who the fuck deserves more credit?!
Oh, who else liked Will Ferrel's rendition of The Architect from Reloaded?

As much as I or anyone here mightr agree with you, it doesn't matter what we think, because well, its already been decided by the millions of teenage girls that voted.
(Oh, and the Eminem character wasn't QUITE himself, he was Rabbit, slightly different story and situation, but still pretty much him)

Was I the only one who noticed that P. Diddy was grabbing a bunch of the clothes?
I'll give T.A.T.U this, their songs are more tolerable than most pop out there, and that one with the black hair is definately easy on the eyes.

In think it may be that he managed to do it without coming off as a complete whiny bitch about it, or make the audience feel like they just walked in on him masturbating.
