Sunburn

What's the best way to get rid of one and soothe the irritating feeling? Besides Aloe Vera, mainly because there's none in the house...yet.

Well, if your face is burned, don't shave over it unless you want one of the most painful experiences of your life.

Vaseline Intensive Care, maybe?

Don't let anything at all touch the sunburn...

Of course, the best solution is don't get sunburned in the first place... Ah... I love my skin. I haven't gotten sunburned in years...

I don't get sunburnt often, however I currently have the worst Farmer's Tan ever, and my neck is just about black from so much exposure.

I've endured sleeping, and mowing the lawn with a shirt on. After a few minutes your shoulder nerves just give up from the pain and you don't feel anything. Heh. I thought about Vasaline but doesn't that shit retain heat?

The last time I got sunburned was when I was out at a camp-in airshow/fly-in for 3 days and I was out continually in the sun ... Asian skin is good.

Of course, my GF has the problem where if she's in the sun for all of a minute, she sunburns...

Sounds like me. I'm currently a nice shade of pink from being in the sun yesterday. I'm not burned really, just pink. It'll take another couple of those before my skin'll even think about tanning.

Sir Nitram and I take a drive Sunday, and because it's warm I have the window open on the car. After I get home, I find that I've gotten the "Trucker's Tan"... Down my right arm, from my shirtsleeve to my wrist. :P

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

Close all the curtains and stay inside for a while, like, say, forever.

Bah. That is nothing. Just try to bike every weekend ten hours under the Sun, wearing lycra shorts+shirt. I think I'll avoid going to the beach for the time being. :? It would be very embarassing to take my shirt. I need to roast for a while in my garden.

That's why I don't wear lycra, the tan lines are way too clear with lycra shorts. With baggy shorts I get a better blend from tanned to light skin, but it still looks pretty dumb. I haven't biked all winter and I still have tan lines from last year, I look like such a goof without my shirt on.

There is nothing you can do besides skin moisturisers, and pain medication. Many sunburn creams have litocane or benzocane, topical numbing agents. Alcohol, opiates.

Other than that, you have been burned, and time is the only cure. It IS a first degree burn, but with radiation instead of heat. Maybe even a second degree one.
It sucks. My sympathy.

But.. but.. without lycra, how can I look good in my wonderful bike photos? The girls must be able to see the handsome guy I am :(

Actually, I'm so used to lycra that I feel strange and unconfortable when biking with normal clothes.

Observe my stylish non-lycra look, as demonstrated on a teeter-totter with a 8 year old bike. :)

Actually I was just taking pictures that day and didn't plan on riding, which is why I'm wearing street clothes and don't even have gloves on.

I tend to get "farmer's tans" since I'm out in a t-shirt often. I also have the watch mark.

Hmm... I just got over a nice case of sunburn. Out fishing on the Tennessee river and, like my smart self, didn't wear sun screen.

My arms, shoulders, and knees burned for a week straight..
