Who is actually taking the poll though? It seems like since it's a British site, it would be mostly British people. So most of the knowledge might be filtered through media.

You know I really hate to say it but most nations get a far better view of the US through media than the US does itself.

These type of polls don't suprise me so. Mick Foley almost won Time's Man of the Year poll because enough yahoos went on line to vote for him.

True. Though in this case I wonder if they actually care about the results or are just having fun. It could be different in the actual country.

I guess we could have a poll like who is the greatest Brits and put in the top two Benny Hill and Mr Bean.

:wtf: ?????? Brits sure have a strange sense of humor. Homer would be a good chief executive, though. My evidence? Cater, Nixon, Reagan, Bush's Sr. & Jr., Ford, and Clinton. Need I say more?

The "All-Australian" award should go to Rex Hunt! (I don't know who Paul Hogan is, and I consider Steve Irwin to be crazy)

This is like in high school when the biggest dork in senior class almost gets elected prom king because of all the people who thought they'd be funny by voting for him (I voted for him too, but I was actually trying to get him elected, because the wailing and howling that would have issued forth from the popular cliques would have kept me laughing for the rest of my life. I also listened in on the gossip, found out which girl was on the outs at that particular time, and made a very public show of voting for her. When someone asked me why, in a very put-off tone of voice, I said, "For the look on your face if she wins").

I still think the award should go to Rex Hunt. He might not fit as many stereotypes about Australians as Irwin does, but at least he doesn't wrestle crocodiles.

At my high school, a geek/nerd/dork has been prom king for the last few years. The magnet program often votes in a big bloc. There was a lot of wailing my year, though.

You deserve more pain than I could inflict in a dozen lifetimes.

Greatest Australian should be Boonie or John Eales.
