So how much, Time/Money/energy do you pour into your mechanical "Mistress" be she Boat, aircraft or Automobile? (Or in Shep & The Dutchess case Firearms)?
Does "She" actually count as a side affair?
Yes, this is in honour of the fact that the Rat Bastard boss just fired my girl friend, and I just finished making payments on my car.<Mine you hear me, all MINE>

I have a lawnmower I like to keep working well, other than that, I'm too young for a car, and I don't have a boat... (if a computer counts as a mechanical mistress, then that would be the main thing....)

Just because I thought it was appropriate for the thread, my father's definition of a personal boat:
"A hole in the water for which you shovel money into."

It’s so good to know I'm not the only one that has that problem.

Same here. And the X-Box.
I don't think it counts as I side affair. After all, I'm single (being in high school that is not surprising).

When I get the time I want to build the civilian legal version of the Colt M4 Carbine. I mean by buying each piece and assembling it myself and breaking the weapon in.

Depends on the metal content.

I once upgraded a stapler. I could impale a staple fully into a tree from 30 metres.

It hurts me you do not include me in that little group.

I probably have a little less than a thousand invested in various firearms I have collected over the years (technically, they were owned by my dad up until two years ago, because of age limits, but you get the idea), a couple hundred in R/C aviation, and then another couple hundred in after market add ons to my Jeep. I also have an old boat (1955 year model Johnson Sea Horse 25hp two stroke on a 1950 model v-hull Sea Sprite). I tinker around with that quite often, too, and spend alot of time fishing out of it on the Tennessee river. With my firearms habit/addiction, I spend many many hours cleaning, performing maintenance, and practicing with them. I try to do all the regular maintenance I can on my own vehicle (1. It is cheaper than a mechanic 2. I can see how my vehicle works and am more prone to know how to fix somethign in a pinch).
