Konnichiwa, minna!

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

Whoo! It is I, DPDarkPrimus, sounding off from my host family`s computer in Okinawa! (That is in Japan, for you geography flunkies.)

It is quite hot and humid, but the bugs are not nearly as bad as I thought they would be. There is, of course, the language barrier, but I am communicating some nontheless. Turns out most of the food I`ve had so far is enjoyable, which is suprising, considering I am such a finicky eater usually... The keyboard, however, is a bit different... the @ isn`t Shift+2, and there isn`t a proper apostrophe, leading me to have to stop and look for this symbol: ` whenever I want to make a contraction.

Eh... well, enough rambling. I should really be going... I need to track down Hiroto (my host student`s little brother). He seems to have run off with my GBA. :P

Until whenever,

Never been to Okinawa. Tokyo I liked, and Nagasaki certainly wasn't hot or humid.

Ah, food...I think I lost quite a few pounds last time I was in Japan, considering my absolute refusal to eat any sort of seafood.

And I'm going back next year! Woohoo!

Enjoy your visit, in any case.

Okinawa is pretty far south from the mainland, Hemlock, so it has tropical weather.

Good to see that you got there safely, DP.

Your host family's got a computer? You bastard, I had to post on GundamWatch in '01 from Koyo Highschool's computer lab (really great air-conditioning there, too. I loved hanging out there).

Well, hope you enjoy the trip and the kick-ass food over there. When class got boring for me and the two other exchange students in my classroom, we just hopped over to the konbini right next to the school. Damn, that little store sold some great ice cream and soda and stuff. :D

Heh, there was one right outside my school, too.

Where at in Okinawa? I was stationed there on Camp Hansen which is right on top of Kinville, which was pretty small town IIRC. Anyway have fun and be safe.

Oh, they make a little sense. It's not like the English is terrible always. It's just that they often have really odd phrasing and don't really mean anything. :)

The girl that we hosted had some really great t-shirts, but I can't remember what any of them said.

Oh, the few that I've seen were like word salad direct from a schitzophrenic's mouth. Total nonsensical stuff. They were really funny, though. :D

My favorite I've ever seen was one that said "Spread Beaver: Open the Vaginal Area".

Oh, and this one, which I wish I could get for myself (on a men's t-shirt).

EDIT: Hey! The Engrish.com store sells it! Excellent!

Heh. Well, you might think they're funny, but I just think they're brilliant.

But they have to have style: not just any old Engresh t-shirt...

Capital idea, Dalt.

Currently at the library in Koyo High School, browsing away while my host student studies for exams. A little bit ago, some people were watching me type, because I type so quickly. :D

Was just looking at the "latest posts" tag, and noticed the time...

Uh... yeah... 4 AM? No... it`s 6 PM! :P

Strange to think about it...

EDIT: Hmm...

The message board says I posted at 4:37 AM. HOWEVER, I did, in fact, post at 6:37 PM. If you think literally, and do not take timezone changes into account, then it makes for hell of a paradox.

And a headache.

Continuing the trend of me posting multiple replys...

When I get back to the States, I will be posting two majorly huge topics concerning my trip: 1) An OT thread with exerpts from my journal, and 2) A A&P thread to showcase many of my photos. (I am taking quite a lot! Dial-up, beware!)
