[runs into phone booth and comes out dressed as Superman]
Okay, everyone. David has decided to step down as the chief moderator for this forum in order to assume some other duties, and I have been asked to assume the role as the head supermoderator. I have decided to accept the role for now, to see what it's like, but I don't think I'll be implementing any substantial policy changes for the time being. Looks to me like David and the other supermoderators have been doing a pretty good job, so I'm going to try to keep things running like they are now.

How can you replace David? I haven't seen you change your avatar, not once! You'll never do until you change your avatar. David did it, Dalton did it, Vympel did it, and pretty much the rest of the Mods have at one time or another. You never-changing-avatar guy.
Just kidding. I'm sure you won't abuse your power besides now locking and/or deleteing every post I make from this point on.

Hey, you're an officer. So does that sound like what a new incoming CO might say in those canned speeches? "I won't be changing much because my predecessor (sp) seemed to run things pretty well, and all my NCOs and JOs seem to be doing a good job, so I'll try to be as hands off as possible." or words to that effect?
And then, the next day, they go and change every thing they possibly can.

Actually he's been a SM for awhile now, but now he can add or remove other SMs and he has access to a few more forums.

Most thank key folks for coming to the ceremony, thank the troops, and then say something like, "All policies and procedures remain in effect. First Sergeant, take charge!"

He can add SuperMods now?
*gleam in eye*
I hereby retract everything I had previously said.
Master of Ossus is
the best possible choice for this position and he has my
full and unconditional support and confidence.
And might I add that's a real snappy avatar you have there, sir!

I'm an Lt, so my first speech would go somewhat like "um, I'm your new commanding officer. Master Sargent so-and-so is in charge until I firgure out what I'm doing, or until I become Captain, whichever comes first."

And with that your men will instantly respect you and do whatever you say.

A Senior Master Sargent once told me that as an Lt I could do one of two things:
1. Realize I probably don't know what I'm talking about, and keep my mouth shut, or
2. Open my mouth and confirm the fact.
