What do you call soft drinks?
Coke
Soda
Pop
Soda Water
Soda Pop
or something else?

I personally call everything coke. If asked I will say I want a coke and then specify which kind, usually a Dr. Pepper.

Soda. Around here, "Coke" refers specifically to Coca-Cola, soft drink makes you sound like a commercial, and pop just makes you sound silly.

Around here it's called coke, with context determining whether one is talking about Coca-cola specifically or all soft drinks.

Who says pop anymore? I voted "soda," by the way.

Coke here is specifically coca cola, or that taste of drink, like pepsi or asda's home brand or whatever.

Soda eh? Afraid coke's the generic term for everything when you can't be bothered to specify on the other side of the channel - or at least in the North of England. Scratch another cultural obscurity on the chart...

Er..i'm from the north of england dude. Many of my friends are avid Coca Cola drinkers, so calling anything coke would anger them greatly.

Weirdoes* :P

If we're talking about carbonated sugar-water here, it's "cola." "Soda" is too inclusive, because it refers to cola and other sugary drinks like Sprite, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, and 7-Up. I don't call it "pop" because it's not 1955, and ditto for "soda pop." I don't call it Coke if it's Pepsi, and "soda water" is completely different and shouldn't even be on the list.

So, all the choices you gave are wrong. :P

Must be a North East thing then, I've heard it a few times in the North-West, but noone appears to be to fussed - North East, specifically Cramlington and surrounding areas - the usual process is as follows -

'you want a coke or something?' 'Dunno, what you got?'

Its more likely to be a lazy bastard thing rather than any UK area, I was merely making the observation that anyone calling them soda's in the North East would get some strange looks... :D

If someone tells me they want a Coke, they will get a fucking CocaCola for being that freaking lazy.

To me its Soda, Soda Pop, Pop, and Soft Drink.
