I use a ball mouse. As for the mousepad, I have removed the grimy rag that fulfills that purpose since it couldn't give me speeds over 60mph.

No wonder. I have an optical mouse and it kinda "sticks" when I move it too fast. Also, my mousepad is basically solid black, and my desk doesn't help much either.
