You are the dictator of a hypothetical continent the size of Australia located in the pacific a with population of 350 million. You must take over the world.

Your economy is 1.5 times that of the USA. Assuming you have access to blue prints for every military technology available in the world what kind of force you would build to take over the world ? Keep in mind you may not build more units than your economy would allow.

Are we assuming that we're a facist country of some sort where everyone has some association with the military and not a bunch of peace loving democrats?

Military size would be vitally important, look how much it's taking to keep Iraq pacified so while a smaller army could conceivably overrun a country's standing army, occupation troops would be very important.

Another fact is nuclear deterrance. If I go invading another country that has nuclear weapons capable of reaching me, I'd better damn well place most of my industries and such well well underground.. vault dwellers Also, you have to keep in mind that you'll be facing tactical nuclear weapons on the field too.

In other words, if I wanted to conquer the world I would reduce a significant portion of it under the ashes of a nuclear holocaust. I would seek ways to get nukes into position of strategic sites of the countries that have nuclear capabilities so that I can obliterate them with no warning or chance of detection. I would also seek out secondary targets of suspected biological and chemical stockpiles. I would use daisy cutters or equivalents to knock out bases..

In essence, I would not have the manpower to take over the world, let alone pacify it.. so I would choose to use my nuclear and chemical arsenals to ensure when I move in ground troops that there will be as little resistance as possible.

How dependent is this place on imported resources and raw materials?

Only an idiot would try to takeover the world now with purely military technology in a straight up war of domination.

Today, those that have control of the economies are those in proper contro, and if you really want domination, do it through the backdoor, not waltzing in guns blazing.
