Holy fucking son of a...a...something. It's so hot I can't think. It's as hot as..as...something really hot.
You don't think the astronomical community would miss it if New York State suddenly appeared in the core of the sun, do you?

That's what air conditioning is for, so that you don't spam the forum with your heat problems.
Last Thursday, Lisbon reached 41ºC, and you didn't hear me complain, no siree. I was locked in my room wasting energy.

Sometimes air conditioners get all iced over and stop working.

Yes, we design them to do that. It's bad for our finances to engineer devices with too long a life.

Our air conditioner committed suicide yesterday.

What's the formula for converting Celsius into Fahrenheit? Something plus something times x minus 32? Anyway you live in Portugal, you're
used to hot weather. Do you know how rare 90 degree weather is in NY at all, much less in June? WE'll probably all be dead by mid-July...

(1.8*deg C)+32
41ºC = 105.8 F
A very sunny day here

Yeah it is pretty hot over here too. I just had a customer tell me over the phone that and I quote " It is hotter than a two dollar hooker outside" Although if the hooker is only two dollars how hot can she be

I hear ya. I'm in wisconsin, and it's hotter than Hades. ninety degrees farenhight, and thunderstorms are rolling through, making it incredibly humid. Yeah, this weather kind of sucks.

Over here in southern California, the past few days have been pretty cool, about 65 to 72 degrees F, at night sometimes going down to 50-something.
Right now it's sunny, but only about 80 to 85.
California is weird. So cool.

Florida hasn't been too bad lately, but then again we've had enormous amounts of rain to flood the area

Actually that's what basements are for. It's been 30-35ºC all week over here and my basement is still at a cool 20ºC. We just set our house ventilation system to circulate all the cool air from our basement to the rest of the house so we've barely had to use the air conditioning. Oh, and we have a nice central air conditioning system that uses pre-ban ozone killing CFC's for maximum cooling when needed. 15 years old and works like new, and it's so cold that you can see your breath in the air coming from the vents.

Philadelphia has been fairly hot the last couple days, but I was getting sick of having rain 5-6 days out of 7 for weeks. I can finally go the pool among other things.

Christ i wish it would rain that much over here. We get a rain once every 3 months.

I agree with Skimmer. Playing rugby for 2 straight hours in 90 degree weather with heavy, long-sleeve rugby shirts on is an excerise in endurance, but at least it's not raining all the damn time anymore.

Mine used to do that. It was happening because the conditioner wasn't sloped properly and the condensed water wasn't draining out. Wedging something an inch or so thick under the inside part should solve the problem.

Yep, I live in Virginia and don't feel anything, mostly because I spend most of the time in the basement where my room is. Actually it's too cold, since the AC is on.
You use AC in Toronto?

Though Toronto is in Canada, it's not an arctic wasteland which seems to be the stereotypical image of Canada. We actually have summers here, and it often gets above 30°C where I live, with hot spells of 35-40°C during July & August. In an urban area with the sun baking the asphalt, the heat radiates off the ground and literally bakes you to a crisp.

Here in Chicago the heat was so bad, the P.E. teacher had us skip the basketball and just go to the 7-11 for slushies.

Today it got to 98F, which is pretty bad, but nothing too extreme. What made it horrible is that I was at work, indoors, with a broken AC, long sleeves, and black slacks. It sucked ass.
