Speed of Light Getting you down? Break it for less than $500

Scientists have sent light signals at faster-than-light speeds over the distances of a few metres for the last two decades - but only with the aid of complicated, expensive equipment. Now physicists at Middle Tennessee State University have broken that speed limit over distances of nearly 120 metres, using off-the-shelf equipment costing just $500.
Intresting..

To say the least

Very fascinating. Boosting the speed at which data in a computer chip moves would be quite useful.

Actually, I see this kind of discovery as being, ultimately, more useful in a quantum computer, when that gets around to being developed. Increasing the speed at which the quantum components could communicate with standard components would be very useful.

*Errr whats that boys?

Sorry been digging up my Internet line just for fun

There, Now the T1 line is a T3 now to speed it up and toda! its equaivlant to an OC1 line, woot!

:P

I'm intrested in how useful this could be in internet connections, specficly VDSL and furthermore Fiber-optics

What good is breaking the speed of light for a microsecond going to do? Is there more proof that this happened?

Because if one can do it on a small scale then with enough money and time one could lay line between every country of the World and evnuntaly every home of the world at three times the speed of light?

Also you don't need to go far in computers do you? Computers will eventualy cap out because of SOL problems so if you can triples the speed you can give yourself more over-head
